Always Nauseous, Needs A Solution :(

Hi! Im 24 years old and I can barely go to the grocery without feeling panic, dizzy and nauseated.. but lately it happens all the time even when I am just sitting on my couch.. The last two months i have been very sick. I am nauseous at all times, after eating is worse but it happens before then as well. I get headaches but mostly at night, I have some pain in my left leg and hip, gas, and the last few weeks I have had adominal pain, even when my bowel movements are regular.
My medical history is as follows:
I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which I only take birth control for.
and I was Diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis but when i took the meds I started having weird chest pains.. So after a month i quit taking the meds.
I am over weight.. 5ft6 and 300LBS.
My sleep patterns border on Insomnia. I have crazy mood swings that are sometimes severe. I cry almost always.. but it gets worse closer to my period. I feel like I am going completely bonkers. I feel hopeless.. and I just dont want to be sick anymore, I would like to narrow my search down because I cant afford to go to tons of doctors and still not have a fix for my issue... Help? Please? :(

I would ask about testing for cortisol. High cortisol is Cushing's disease - and something comes with PCOS (I had both) or is mis-diagnosed as PCOS as a lot of the symptoms overlap.
Getting nauseated though is a sign of low cortisol - so it could happen that  your cortisol is going up and down.
That is a possibility based on your symptoms - read up and see what you think about cyclical Cushing's syndrome.

Yikes - that wiki is wrong... it is stating something that is accurate - in that BCPs (as well as a host of other medications too!) bind free cortisol, but that is not psuedo-Cushing's. As well, anyone can have naturally elevated cortisol binding globulin so testing GBG is done by good docs.

If you look at medical sites, you will see that psuedo-Cushing's is Cushing's brought on by extreme alcoholism or depression.

I had PCOS and Cushing's. It took me 12 years to get diagnosed with the Cushing's as many docs attributed most of my symptoms to PCOS, or my thyroid, or just blamed me!

Cushing's will zap minerals - usually the Bs, D and iron. But if you have any high cortisol reading's - it should not be ignored.

The Wiki i read said:
Pseudo-cushing's syndrome

Elevated levels of total cortisol can also be due to estrogen found in oral contraceptive pills that contain a mixture of estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen can cause an increase of cortisol binding globulin and thereby cause the total cortisol level to be elevated. However, the total free cortisol, which is the active hormone in the body, as measured by a 24 hour urine collection for urinary free cortisol, is normal.

That is why i suggested that may be the issue, After a few more Doc visits is seems most of my nausea is caused because my body is being over whelmed by the stress hormone, and I am also Zinc and B6 deficient. The Weight gain seems to be part of the PCOS.

It looks like I am having many issues and not all related to my PCOS :( I will just keep seeing my Doctors and hope they can come up with something to make it at least less overwhelming.

Psuedo-Cushing's is only caused by extreme alcoholism and the like - I don't think you gave the impression of that. It is badly named, but it is actually a pretty severe form of Cushng's.

There are no natural or OTC cures for high cortisol. The source of the cortisol must be found - which is normally a tumor, and it must be removed.  I could not tolerate metformin as well.

I had Cushing's disease - I had pituitary surgery.

After some blood work it was found that I do have high stress hormone levels, I am now taking tryptophan and gaba ease to help with that. My metformin was making my stomach ache so I am going to try some different things see what works for me!

Thank you all SOOOO much!

I honestly have never ever heard of the correlation of weight and high anxiety levels however, I do know that high cortisol can be mis-diagnosed as bi-polar and depression and cause weight gain.

Eating healthy though is good advice.

To me, it sounds like high anxiety levels which do come with being overweight. I used to have bad anxiety problems and panic attacks, which led to feeling nauseated and dizzy. The mood swings could be characterized by mental disorders that stem from anxiety as well, such as bipolar disorder. If you can afford it, visit a psychiatrist and explain your symptoms. Eating healthy and having a healthy lifestyle will greatly reduce your anxiety levels as well. HTH
