I have PCOS and need suggestions for conceiving

I have PCOS and my husband and I am trying to conceive. We have been trying for 3 years now and I'm now at my wits end to figure out what I can do that could fix or at least better one or both problems. I am 24 and know that I'm only getting closer to not being able to have children. I have tried prenatals and metformin for 6+ months but gave up on those. I had 2 miscarriages in 2008. The first one I was 5 months and the second I was 3 months. Both times I was pregnant with twins. I am almost at the breaking point with trying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have not tried to get pregnant but I also have PCOS and right now have lost 40 lbs on metformin it does mess with your stomach a bit but I have no problems if I have some sort of meat in my meal it definitely helps.  My doctor is a firm believer of metformin she also has pcos and she has 4 healthy kids! Good luck!

Im a HUGE believer of metformin. I was on it for 6 months when I got pregnant naturally (along with a 25 pound weight loss thanks to metformin) I was on 1500mg. I was trying for 2 years but only seeked help 6 months prior to getting pregnant. I stayed on metformin (1500mg) for my first trimester even though I had horrible morning sickness. Never missed a dose. In your case you clearly can conceive you should really look into why your not keeping the pregnancies. Best of luck to you. And im so sorry for your loses. Another thing I have to mention the cycle I conceived I started yoga/pilates regularly and was taking a good B complex vitamin which is because I had heard B6 is great for your lining and metformin depleats you of B12. Something to look into.

Do your Drs know why you're miscarrying? Could be a shortened cervix since you're miscarrying in 2nd tri. I am going to start progesterone shots in 2 weeks to better my chances of making it to term. I had my son at 33 weeks, he's a healthy 10yr old now, 3 1st trimester miscarriages & now am 13 weeks along in this pregnancy.

Hello! I too am 24 years old and have pcos. I have been ttc for over 2 1/2 years. In fact for the 3 1/2 years we have been married we have never done anything to prevent pregnancy and I have never been pregnant. I know that it can be so difficult and exhausting when your body doesn't seem to work right. I am so sorry about your m/c, both of them. That is so terrible and I am deeply sorry. The good thing is, I have heard several doctors say that although you have had a m/c it's great that you can at least get pregnant. I have never been so I have a little bit of fear. I am not sure how much about pcos you know. But, it is very very common for women with pcos to have miscarriages. You said you tried metformin, were you taking the met while you were pregnant?? I know that it is possible for us pcos girls to get pregnant and have healthy full term births, I know several women who have!! Don't give up!!!! Metformin during pregnancy seems to do wonders, again, I have never been preggo, but I know many women who say it was the reason they carried the baby full term. I would maybe talk to your doctor, or change to a doctor that knows more about pcos (I have done that a couple times). It is important that your doctor knows what works for us pcos girls and what doesn't. I have had doctors that did nothing for me and just told me to lose weight. I have since found a fertility specialist who is great! Have you tried clomid yet?? that seems to be great with ovulation and will help a pcos girl get prego. Also, I am not sure what you have done already, so I am just giving some ideas on what I have done. When we started ttc I thought the only issue was myself and the pcos. When I saw my new doctor the first thing he did was test my husband to rule him out. I know you have been pregnant, but it is always good to see if his count is good. Come to find out, my husband has low sperm count so we are both factors. Now I am doing clomid 100mg and am being monitored. Since my hubby also has infertility issues we have decided to turn to iui. I am not sure your financial situation, or where you live. But, here in Arizona, US it will cost us about $400 with the drugs, procedure and sperm washing. Which is not bad, considering we have spent more than that easily on ttc on our own. Don't give up hope there are so many options out there for us. My doctor told me on my last visit that we shouldn't worry because even with pcos I can have as many kids as we want. You can send me a personal message anytime. I would love to catch up with you and see how things are going on your ttc journey. Maybe we will get our BFP's together :) Stay strong and SSBD your way!!
Denise.
