Ovarian drilling - please advise

For those of you who have had ovarian drilling, if you could answer the following I'd greatly appreciate it!

1 - Was that what enabled you to conceive?

2 - How long ago did you have it done and have you had any problems with pain from adhesions forming on the ovaries?

3 - How long did it regulate you after the drilling was done or did you get pregnant right away?

I have had good response to clomid and gonadotropins, but next week I will be scheduling my 3rd surgery in the past year and a half (for endometriosis) and am considering the drilling so I don't have to go to such measures to conceive. I'm not sure I've got another IVF or IUI cycle in me. I've been pregnant 4 times but all were chemical pregnancies that ended in very early miscarriages. I'm thinking this may help my egg quality/hormone situation and therefore increase my chances of success. At least then I could try on my own if I'm going to have the surgery anyway. I am supposed to get a hysterectomy due to my pain from adenomyosis, but I'm delaying it for another couple of tries for a baby. Just wondered if it would be worth it.

Thanks!

May I know where you have done ovarian drilling. I am also in the same boat but do not know where to go. Also does age matters?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Am sorry to hear about your miscarriage and can totally empathise with you with regards to how much you can take before calling it a day.

I had the drilling done back in 2001 and it made no difference at all, at the time I was very over weight and did no excise what so ever and hoped I would fall pregnant….no such luck!

In early June 2008 I had it done again, this time I was 4 stone lighter and do exercise 4 times a week as I got my butt into a gym and got a trainer to help me which I needed, the pain was not too bad and had a week off work and then about  couple of week later I was back to normal and got my monthly shortly after and were back to 29 days spot on there for after, a month later I found out I was pregnant which was unplanned as I had split up from my long term, I just had my son 12 weeks ago who came early.

Am not saying it can work for everybody, personally for me it did and I don’t have PCOS  any more, as the weight loss/drilling and burning the cysts off helped a lot,  1 failed cycle of IVF,2 miscarriages and finally I have my son 9 yrs later, I truly believe mother nature works in different ways.

I'm so sorry it didn't work - but at least it did work in the sense that you are getting your period on your own!  It's still early - there is still plenty of time for it to work!  Thanks for the input and best of luck to you!

AF just showed up today so apparently I am not prego, but at least I had a period on my own again, which is more than I could say before I got the drilling. Now I at least have an idea of how many days it will be before I can expect the next one.

I had ovarian drilling on the 28th of April 2009.  Being that it was so recent, I can't answer all of your questions, but I can say that I know it has helped me.  I started my first period on my own without medication 2 days after the procedure, and I have lately been experiencing every symptom of pregnancy in the book.  I have not confirmed that I am pregnant yet, but I do know that my hormones are doing something different.  Of course I hope that I am pregnant but even if I start my period on my own I will be happy because that means that maybe I will be "normal" again...even if it is just for a little while.

About the surgery, I thought it was a piece of cake.  I had the surgery done on Tuesday and was up and about with not problems by Friday.  I am having no associated pain now.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  I highly recommend ovarian drilling!
