My reproductive endo thinks I may have reactive hypoglycemia. I did the 2 hour gtt and my fasting sugar was 90, while my 2 hour sugar was 72. Both within the normal range, but he was concerned about the drop. He had me see a dietician and modify my diet. Less carbs, pairing protien with carbs, eating more often, and exercise. After a week of that, I started the Metformin. I was told if I didn't start the modified diet first, the Metformin would cause many side effects. I have noticed if I don't follow the modified diet, I don't feel very well and can get a bit lightheaded. As long as I eat what I'm supposed to, I feel a lot better than I did, have more energy, and don't get shakey.
Did you ever figure this out? I think metamorphin is really bad if you have low blood sugar and exacerbates your problem. I was on glocuophage a few years ago and was a miserable mess. I think that low blood sugar is all connected to insulin problems, but an entirely different animal than high and, frankly, not researched enough in the PCOS community. All my doctors were shocked when I learned I had it and it took about 8 years of seeing dr.s to find out I had it only accidentally. I took a two-hour fasting test as part of routine tests; it was assumed my blood sugar was high or normal. Separately, I was wondering why I suffered so many headaches and not making the connection. I find that a high protein diet, lots of small snack work well with both the PCOS and the low blood sugar.... Anyway what ever happened with you?
