The key to losing weight is eating healthy and drinking lots of water. Weight loss consists of 80% diet and 20% exercise. Find a friend to go on long walks with and your weight should start melting off. Most internet sites gives tons of healthy recipes and tips for better food choices. Unfortunately PCOS does not disappear, but the symptoms may disappear with weight loss. I'm 17 years old and I was diagnosed with the syndrome in February of 2010, when I was 14. Two years later I still have trouble remembering to take my meds and suffer from excess weight, but I've learned to love myself no matter how I look or what the scale tells me. If you ever need anyone to discuss your issues with, I'm here. Just remember hun -- you ARE beautiful. :)
My 15 year old daughter was just diagnosed this week. She: fortunately has never been teased about her weight. She is on the tennis team at her high school, so I think this may help diifuse the teasing. I would suggest finding a sport you can be comfortable with and get on board. Good Luck.

Hi Andrea,
I know it comes as a bit of a shock when you hear you have PCOS and unfortunatley there isn't any cures available for this at the minute.
It seems like your weight is the main issue here & like the comment above I agree that you should speak to your doctor about starting some metformin. What type of diet do you have? Theres lots of forums and stuff online which will help you with your diet, I heard low sugar/carb diets are extremely helpful and plenty of exercise.
I know its tough but don't allow people to taunt you and ruin your confidence these people are just shallow! The more focused you are the more easier managing your weight will become
Good Luck
I'm so sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately PCOS isn't something that can be cured. It can only be treated. If the weight is your main concern at the moment, I would ask your doctor for a prescription for metformin. This alone won't get rid of the weight, but it will help control your sugars. On top of taking metformin, you should begin some kind of workout type activity for 30-60 minutes at least 4 times a week. Also cut back on your sugar intake as much as possible. These three things should help the weight to come off. Just be aware that it may take awhile. Good luck.
