Success rates for Clomid and larger ladies?

Hello, I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and naturally because I have always wanted children, hearing those words was something i'd feared for a long time since it runs in my family. I'm 19 and a little overweight (my BMI is under 30) but me and my partner have finally decided to go ahead with fertility tests to ensure that the only thing stopping us from having a family is the PCOS and the lack of periods and ovulation. I was wondering if any of you ladies have had success with Clomid whilst being overweight and how long it took to get your BFP's?

I'm holding out hope after hope that Clomid will be my answer to finally having a family but I really need to know the reality of the success rates for larger ladies.

Thankyou for any help, I look forward to any help, support and success stories!

Hello :-D I was diagnosed years ago with PCOS..I tried for a few years on my own to conceive..but it was not happening. My Dr put me on Clomid and Metformin..and a little under a year we conceived our son. He is now a healthy 2 & 1/2 year old. I am an overweight woman..but after I delivered my son I lost all the weight that I had gained while being pregnant (50lbs..yikes) ..and a bit more. 3 months ago we went back to try one more time..and we are ecstatic to be able to say that it only took 2 cycles of Closed to work this take..We are shocked. So..dont ever give up..it will happen for you. Just do what the Dr says..and diet and exercise. Good luck..and lots of baby dust :-D

Hi,
If PCOS and being overweight is the problem then first thing that you need to do is to lose weight. I know this is not easy, but it is necessary in women with PCOS. Weight loss helps normalise hormone levels in PCOS. Also drugs like metformin may help. Clomid is the next step and is very good for induction of ovulation even in overweight women. Hence hope for the best and go ahead.
Take care and good luck.
