Transvaginal Result

Hi. I got my Transvaginal Ultrasound Result but the Doctor did not interpret. I am so worried. Is there something to be worried of? I am 26 years old and we are planning to have a baby by May 2014. Here's the result:Thank you so much in advance.

Uterus: 4.8x4.9x4.4 cm
Retroverted
No abnormalities appreciated

Endometrium: 1.3 CM
Hyperechoic

Right Ovary:  4.7x5.1x3.0 CM
The right ovary is cystically enlarged as measured with hyperechoic lines and dots with a mural nodule seen suggestive of an ovarian cyst with benign sonologic features, probably dermoid cyst

Left Ovary: 4.3x2.7x3.0 CM
Within a background of polycystic change there is a cystic structure with crenated internal border suggestive of corpus luteum

Cervix: 3.8x2.9x2.5 CM

Impression/Conclusion:
NORMAL SIZED RETROVERTED UTERUS WITH SECRETORY PHASE ENDOMETRIUM
OVARIAN CYST RIGHT AS DESCRIBED PROBABLY DERMOID CYST
POLYCYSTIC LEFT OVARY WITH CORPUS LUTEUM

CORRELATE CLINICALLY

Thank you for the information. I am so worried that this can cause infertility. Do you think there is something very unusual on my right ovary?

A dermoid cyst is a cyst that can have hair, bone, or even teeth in it (Cysts come from eggs not properly put through the ovulation cycle, and eggs are haploid, meaning they have half a set of DNA).  Usually benign.

I had one in 2009 and had it removed because it was causing pain.  I went into the ER thinking I had appendicitis, but I had a 10x11cm dermoid cyst (softball size) with teeth and hair as the ER doctor noted with amusement. At this point, I wouldn't be worried about much.  I know with certain types of cysts, they will try to use birth control to shrink it.  I'm not sure if they do this with dermoid cysts or not as I had mine removed the same evening it was discovered since it was fairly large and causing pain. They kept my ovary intact, and the surgeon said there is little likelihood of difficulty with conception later in life.

A retroverted uterus is simply one that is tilted backward rather than forward.  Again, nothing really of note.  The doctor will probably only really talk to you about the cyst and what he plans to do about it as well as the polycystic left ovary.
