black discharge

hi, i have found out this week that my partner whom i lived with for 10 years has been seeing someone else, so as you can imagine, not eating or sleeping very well, but my main concern is that today i have noticed when i went to the toilet i had a lot of heavy black discharge, could this be caused by the stress of it all
manythanks

I've had very dark "discharge" before that was like spotting. The doc said it was break-through bleeding that had stopped.. I wish I could describe it like she did, but basically new blood, or if you are still bleeding- it'll come out bright red. The darker the color, the older the blood..

If it's truly black- not just dark brownish, I'm not sure what could cause that. Do you have pain with it?

You'd want to see a doctor, it could always be your period.
