harmony?

Hi I am 39 yrs old and 14 weeks pregnant I already have a 13 yr old daughter. I just had the harmony blood test done to test for down syndrome. My neuchral translucency was completely normal but because of my age the chances are higher of having a child with D's has anyone had this blood test and how were the results?

I had it done with my first only because it can detect serious complications. I wouldn't change my mind regardlous but if there is something wrong that can be fixed before delivery would you? Some of those test help find complications that can't be seen and can help with delivery if one is found. Our son is missing a chromosome that is uncommon and not very much is known but what is was a heart problem that usually doesn't resolve itself and could be done in the womb. He is totally fine and no complications at this point. i say go for it to know what to expect. Pregnancy is complicated and hard all ready I couldn't imagine going to give birth and something even more traumatic happens :/ good luck!

I had my first son when I was 30 & the harmony test didn't exist yet. between the quad screen & my ultrasound at 19 weeks wefound out he had down syndrome. He is the most precious, perfect kid. my second baby, I was offered the harmony test & refused & I'm planning on refusing thistime too. it doesn't make a difference to me & knowing before only caused me to be stressed out for 5 months. I commend all of you who say it wouldn't make a difference to you. too many people get scared & terminate due to a diagnoses.

Thanks ladies I really don't care I will love my baby no matter what...I just feel like the older you are the more tests they want to do. Its frustrating that the drs always are worried about one thing or another...all I want to do is enjoy my pregnancy but I feel like they put a dark cloud over my pregnancy because of my age.

I am 41 with baby #5. I have refused all the tests to.With my first I had it done and it came back positive for downs. Which I had the amnio. Of course it was negative. But I worried for weeks for the results. I've never had it done again. My opinion is, it is what it is. We're not going to love our baby any less. Good luck!

I have always refused those test, because they are frequently incorrect and cause unnecessary worry. The outcome wouldn't have made a difference,  only cause needless anxiety for me. I've had 4  of my babies when I was between the ages of 36 and 43 and they are perfectly fine. I'm now expecting again at 45.

I'm 36 and 7 weeks along. We're having the Harmony test at 10 weeks. I definitely want to know as soon as possible if something is wrong. Oh, and I'm excited to know if it's a girl or a boy too ;-)

Hi, I am just 4 weeks at the moment with number 7(age 38), I was offered the test with my current youngest son who I had age 36, but refused it.  I imagine my odds would also be high ( not that I would ever consider abortion any way). He was fine however the son I had at age 21 had Dyspraxia, ADHD and comes under the Autistic spectrum. So I reckon there are so many problems, and so many illnesses people can get apart from Downs, what's the point, life can change in a blink of an eye for us all. I hope you have a trouble free healthy pregnancy x
