anxiety about being an "older" mother

Hi, I have only just found out I am pregnant and so very early stages. It will be my third but I am so worried about all the stories I am reading about the added risks/complications linked to being an older mum. I am only 37. Has anyone got some stories about themselves that everything has been ok.

I am 39 and turning 40 tommorow. I too am worried but I know I am in good hands with my doctor and age is just a number...don't read anything anymore...just relax and eat right, take care of yourself and be positive and positive things will happen. Best wishes!

U do ppl feel old n there upper. 30's? U r far from old!!!!! I'm 41 n due n August I thought I was old smh! Ur age doesn't define who u r or how u feel. Our bodies r made to have babies at any age. U shld feel good bout having that blessing and enjoy it.. U r only as old as u feel lol!

I'm 40 and 18 weeks pregnant on my first. I was so worried early on as risks are higher the older you are and I had a bad flu with soaring temperatures at 5weeks. I've also miscarried before.

I went to a private clinic to test for abnormalities. The test is called panorama and there is a similar one called harmony. They took a swab from my partner's cheek and took my blood. They isolate the baby's DNA from this information and can determine a lot of information to 99% accuracy. I was thrilled to learn I have less than 1:10,000 chance of having any of the abnormalities tested for. I also found out I'm having a boy. This can be done from 9 weeks and was very worth the money for the peace of mind it gave me.

I'm 40 and will be 41 when my baby arrives. Like you, I am very nervous. I guess all we can do is to be positive and hope for the best. Hugs and happy Baby thoughts!

I'm 37 and due in less than 2 weeks. Risks have nothing to due with age. It's about the individual mother. You're not alone here.
