I am very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the pain you are going through. You can request an autopsy, but it was more than likely just a bad cord accident. This does happen. They probably didn't give her huge amounts of pethadine or diazepam and I'm pretty sure that wasn't the culprit. I received demoral for pain relief before I ever got the epidural and the baby was fine. It was just to help take the edge off the contractions.
And it does sound like your wife did have problems with her pregnancy, esp since she required the stitch in her cervix. Was she getting a lot of ultrasounds? Was she put on bed rest? I hope so, but it's pretty serious when you require the stitch in your cervix. But I think it was the cord more than anything. I'd double check on that with an autopsy.
I can't give you any good advice as I honestly don't know anything about this, but I did want to say that I am so very very sorry for your loss. I cannot even begin to imagine how difficult a time this must be and I wanted to let you know I will keep you and your wife in my thoughts and prayers.
That's a very good point Tanker Chic, I wasn't even thinking that.
I am so sorry for your loss.. I can't even imagine the pain you and your wife are suffering.
I dont' know about the medication, but I would wonder why they baby's heat rate wasn't being monitored. If there was a problem occuring, I think they would have known by the heart rate..
Again.. i'm very sorry.. my heart goes out to your family..
When the baby came out did you see the cord around his neck? This happened to a friend of mine and she is still grieving over it after 2 years. Losing a child is so hard and I will pray for her and your family. Take Care and God Bless.
