One more thing... If you want the epidural let them know ASAP. My friend ended up having to wait a long time to get hers because the hospital was very busy that day. Also once you get to a certain point I don't think they will give it to you.

The pitosin makes contractions more frequent. I think I was having them every two minutes. 17 hours of labor, no epidural on pitosin :-/ and then I had to have an emergency C-section because after that time, I only was at an 7 dilation, loss of fluid because my water broke and the baby started to be in distress.. That was the scariest then the pain of the labor was nothing. But I had a very healthy 8 lb boy (now he's 7). Now I'm pregnant with my 3 rd and I still get nervous about delivery. My mom had five kids easily all under two hours of labor. So everyone is different, there is no birth plan to follow. But in the end it is all worth it. There isn't anything more special than holding your baby for the first time.

It's bad... But really learn to breath. I took the birthing classes but I did not breath the way they teach you more deep breaths and the pain is not constant it's only painful when you have the actual contraction. My water broke when I got up to go to the bathroom, if your water breaks go to the hospital ASAP. One thing I didn't realize is when your water break it's a constant stream of fluid (nothing like the movies). So good idea to have a towel in the car. Once at the hospital because my water broke, I was only dialated to 1 cm so I was put on pitosin drip which makes labor more intense & contractions more c

When I was pregnant with my first child I found that people love to tell birthing stories.  The crazier the better.  It's like this in regular life events - someone always has a worse story than someone else.  Don't give in to your anxiety.  Read up on delivery, know your options, make a flexible birth plan and bring things to the delivery that make you happy. I had music playing while my husband and I played gin.  Then when I couldn't focus on cards I put on a fun movie. Roll with it.

My water broke around 9 at night and contractions didn't start for another 8 hours after that. When they did start, they were extremely slow and we ended up inducing with pitocin. After a while, I ended up getting an epidural which was a horrible experience. They had the do the epidural twice because the first one messed up, and the guy administering it was so rude and insensitive.

My epidural wore off before I began pushing so I felt mostly everything even though there was still a little numbness. My boy was pretty small (6 lbs 13 oz) but I had a really hard time pushing so he ended up being vacuumed out of me.

Honestly, what I remember about it, it was hard. I am terrified of getting an epidural again so I've decided to do it naturally. I've read a lot and done a lot of research and  although I know its going to jury, I think this is the best decision this time around.

My thoughts before going into labor were much much worse than the actual labor! I had what felt like period cramps from hell but they don't last too long so the breaks in between help a lot! With my son, I got to the hospital and I was already 6cm! They gave me an epidural at 8cm and because I already have back problems, I am going to try to go all natural this time! The biggest thing for me was I just wanted to push so bad but they wouldn't let me until I was completely effaced! It took me about 20 minutes to push! It felt so good! Lol and I'd say it's true what a lot of woman say, once you have your baby in your arms, you forget how bad the pain was and it was all worth it anyways! :)

I had a med-free delivery with my first,  a nine - pound whopper of a boy, and it was the most incredible, empowering thing I've ever done. It was hard and it was painful but totally tolerable. Well worth all the trouble to prove to myself that I am strong and capable - and the next day I was looking forward to the day when I got to do it all again. Four years later I'm finally expecting #2 and can't wait for the big day. Believe in yourself, surround yourself with peoole who believe in you, and don't forget our bodies were made for this.

Honestly I had expected it to be way worse but it wasn't too bad. I did end up doing an epidural just because my water broke at 4cm and my contractions were off the charts because my daughter was sideways and not progressing. But I loved it. It's empowering and I'm excited to do it for the second time. :)

Our bodies are built to handle the pain or else men would be the ones having babies!! knowing your different types of pain relief will give you peice of mind going into it but we are built to endure this kind of pain and we are all stronger then we feel!!!

I've very low pain tolerance & I got epidural it didn't hurt at all. When baby was in birth canal I felt pressure in my rectum. I end up with c section bcoz.my baby didn't progressed. But I didn't felt anything at all. I thought after they will take epidural it will hurt bad but honestly I didn't felt a thing. Without epidural it was killing me. But again I've low pain tolerance. My mom gave birth to 4 without epidural & she was totally f9. Good luck mama & have a safe delivery

Your body knows just what to do and you can trust it. The pain just opens your body to invite your new baby into the world!  I had two natural home births and it hurts but your mind goes to a different place. Women a have always given  birth and are always going to. You can and will do it!!!

Dnt b afraid. Every woman has a different experience. Once the baby is out, you wil do it again. I gave birth naturally with no pain killers and epidural. Now i am pregnant again and will do it all over again.

If you have to have pitosen to increase contractions... that hurts.  Baby #2 I did labor and delivery as natural as possible.  Dr wanted me put on pit to get things moving faster.  I refused a few hours and then let them give it to me if they started with a low dose and gradually increased.  It was easier this way.  Baby came natural with no pain killers.  It's not so bad if you learn to breath through the contractions.  Stay relaxed and stand up for yourself.  Create a birth plan.  Do your research.   Let the nurses know what you want.  This helped with #2.  Read up on this.  You can do it.

I just had my daughter 2 days ago and I was scared too b/c of all the horror stories I heard. Honestly, it is painful. You are literally pushing another person out of your body and there are physical changes that your body must endure to do so. But I would say relax and listen to the medical professionals, they are there to help YOU.

I think that everyone is different. I personally didn't think my labor was so bad, it was painful don't get me wrong but I knew I could handle it. right after I gave birth I told the doctor I could do it again...lol

Don't let your fears build up your inability to withstand pain because you may make it worse than it will be.

Relax, you will be fine.
