Ovulation testing

What is the best method of testing for ovulation to detect the best opportunity for pregnancy?  I know there are over the counter ovulation tests, but are they worth the money.  I am 35 and want to have my first baby, I am just looking for some advice.

I have a few tips for you if you like.  Most of us ovulate around 14 days prior to our menstrual cycle.  The few days leading up to ovulation are our most fertile.  During this time, try to stay really hydrated.  I typically avoid alcohol and really keep things like caffeine to a minimum.  I drink a ton of water.  This helps our fertile cervical mucus which is important in conception.Start now on a good prenatal vitamin high in folic acid.  And my other suggestion is always a physical.  Picking up any minor health issues now means they can be dealt with prior to pregnancy.  Good luck to you!!

I always use the CVS stor brand OPK's.  They come 20 strips in a box, so sometimes they last me for months.  You pee in a cup and dip the stick.  I see my LH surge every  month, and I've gotten pregnant twice using these.  Good luck to you.  Keep us posted.

I also am a big fan of the clear blue digital and have successfully conceived with it.  Some people find the cheapies work great..I personally didn't like them.  And again, others like the fertility monitors.  It really is a matter of personal preference and of course budget.  Good luck to you!

I liked the Clear Blue Easy electronic OPKs personally. They are pricey, but with a little practice, I became pretty good at predicting my own ovulation to be within a few days, so I was able to make a one-month supply last about 3 months or sometimes more. I just liked that there was a smiley face or there wasn't. Trying to conceive is sterssful enough as it is! Good luck :)

All I ever used was over the counter ones and they worked great.  I have 3 kids to prove it.  Lol  I used the cheap answer brand from walmart.  They have other brands but that one did fine for me.  Good luck.
