Progesterone testing?

Hi ladies! So I just found out a few days ago I am prego! I am so excited but also a little concerned since 5 months ago I miscarried. Doctor told me it was nothing I did wrong and I could try again immediately! So here I am 5 weeks pregnant today with a due date of Sept. 6! I already have a 19 yr old son. I know, I know it's a huge age gap lol. Anyway doc called me today & told me she wants to test my progesterone. Is it because I'm over 35?...and I'm high risk? What does that mean? I talked to the assistant over the phone who didn't have many answers for me. I go back and forth between 2 doctors. The one that took care of my miscarriage 5 months ago isn't the doc ordering this lab work. In fact I have an appt w/him Jan. 21 and my lady doctor Feb. 10. Should I get the testing done? Why would one doc whant it and not the other? Uggg am I over thinking this whole thing lol Thanks

I had a miscarriage in September. I am now about 5 weeks now. My first ob appointment is the 14th of this month. My due date is September 3rd. I think I should go to my primary doctor and get my labs done too.

Yes, I would recommend having your progesterone and hCG level done. I personally experienced two miscarriages and after that I started taking progesterone supplements, which should help strengthen the lining of your uterus.  That decreases the chances of having another miscarriage. I am currently 10 weeks pregnant and taking progesterone supplements as well. I had to take it until I was 11 or 12 weeks, so hoping that is around the same time during this pregnancy. Wishing you the best during your pregnancy

I also had a miscarriage around the same time.  My friend had one earlier in the year and she's pregnant and they did extra test on her too. Now she has these round balls the doctor gave her to stick up her lady parts every night to prevent a miscarriage. She has to do this for 3 months. They disolve in there. They have the letters tv on them. Hope this helps! Good luck :)

I have a friend who experienced the same thing and this pregnancy she had her progesterone checked right away...a few days after finding out she was pregnant them a couple more times. Low progesterone can indicate higher chances of miscarriage. If someone is low they can prescribe supplements to increase your progesterone. I would personally get the test done. Wishing you all the best!
