Could it be pregnancy or menopause

I am 45yrs old. Experiencing irregular periods esp last mo (March 27).  After an extremely painful period I made an appt with my gyn; had an ultrasound, which showed nothing but a possible (peanut size) fibroid cyst. After an internal, my dr noticed that the uterus was thicker and believes I may have edometriosis but wants to wait another month or so before deciding on laproscopy.  My cycle is usually 23 -26 days. At 28days, my next period would have been due April 24.  In the past whenever I was late, I was pregnant.  I have a 15yr old and have had three losses in the last 10 yrs.  I did 2 home preg tests - negative.  I am cramping, very bloated and have trouble sleeping. Could I be pregnant or starting menopause.

I'm willing to bet it hs more to do w/hormones that are a little crazy for other reasons than pregnancy like for example the endometriosis.  When you see your dr, ask for a blood pregnancy test if you're still concerned and haven't started or test again w/another hpt in a week to make sure it's a BFN.

Hi there.  It's so hard to say what's going on, it could be so many things.  I am not sure if you have always been irregular, but if that is something new, it could be a sign of perimenopause...at least I think that's a symptom.  I suspect you can probably rule out pregnancy if you had a negative pregnancy test.  Once you are late for your period, almost all brands of HPT will show negative.  I would continue to work with your Dr., and I wish you well!
