Im in my 3rd pregnancy at 28w all 3 were with a cerclage/ stitches current cervix is1cm. They normally wont place one past 16w because its more likely to put you in to labor then help you. Most likely they will monitor you closely and put you on progesterone and possible ibuprofen along with some bedrest. Im on progesterone and ibuprofen and no bedrest with weekly ultrasound to keep watch. There are many things they can do to keep your babe in and safe, tell hes full trem. I normally go between 41-42w. Try and not to stress, relax and i wouldn't have sex tell you have a chat with you dr about it. Good luck mama we will be praying for you and your babe.

I carried to 37 weeks with my first son and to 36 weeks with my second son with a thin cervix. I am currently 22 weeks 5 days and my cervix is once again thinning. They don't know the cause of it but I am on progesterone and taking it easy. My fear is with every pregnancy I will deliver earlier. But I seem to still carry almost to term even with a thin cervix so I am staying optimistic :) Hopefully its the same for you :)

I have a shortened cervix, this is also my fourth pregnancy and I'm almost 25weeks. I had my 1st baby at 27weeks due to a shortened cervix it was under 2cm. My 2nd and 3rd babies they stitched me at 13weeks and I carried full term. At the moment my cervix is measuring 2.2cm.
I'm not sure where your from but I'm in Australia and my doctors here have me on progesterone. They won't stitch once past 24weeks. If this is the 1st time your cervix has shortened then chances are they'll monitor you, possible bed rest, possible progesterone etc. I have weekly ultrasounds and assessments to make sure mine doesn't get under 2cm. Try not to worry too much, although I know it's hard. If you've got any other questions feel free to message me.
