Cold Water

So I am 39 weeks 4 days pregnant and had my weekly checkup on Wednesday. We found out I'm 3 centimeters dilated and my cervix is 70% thinned. Very exciting! My doctor tells me to make sure I drink cold water, lay on my left side and make sure you count 3 kicks in 5 minutes and if there is any less than 3 kicks, go to the hospital. I'm really curious to why we need to do this "test".

Its to make sure baby is doing okay. Towards the end of pregnancy babies can get crowded and end up in distress or amnoitic fluid can get low and also cause stress. My doc just reminds me to do my kick count and make sure its in the normal range for me which is ususlly 10 kicks in 10 min
