Its normal to get pain like all kinds of hell for the first while as the skin on the nipple needs to toughen and until then expect pain...engorgement.. cracks and all sorts... there are really good creams out there for this or nipple guards.. but in about 2-3 weeks that will all pass... hand in there hun
I tried breastfeeding with my son and for many reasons it wasn't best in my situation so I wont be this time but if you want to do it the hospital are very supportive with midwives and lactation consultants who can show how to get the baby to latch properly and reduce the discomfort. Good luck!
There is an art to it, your midwive will support you to get baby latching on correctly and this can save you alot of discomfort, once youve got it sussed its wonderful bonding and you look forward to it....if you decide to change to the bottle baby will be just as happy :-)
Thanks but I guess it's all about how I feel after I have her
I don't think a few days of pain is worth not giving your baby what is best or missing out on that amazing bond. It surely seems worth it to me, and it's natural so I'm sure it's not anything us women can't handle
And besides all that, the tata's go kerplunk as soon as they stop being engorged- you might as well get a little time out of the good ones :)
Yes it hurts like the dickens the first few days! My saving grace was Angel Baby Nipple Butter. It's so worth the few days of pain- the bond with your baby, it's better for them, and you will lose the baby weight much more quickly!
I haven't breast fed yet since I'm 35 weeks with my first, but I think there will be some level of discomfort until you get used to it. Breast milk is the best option for your baby & will also help your body snap back.
