Ultrasound and other tests

Hello everyone,

Forgive me if you asked a question in regards to the risks that I have research on about ultrasound and now using the doppler, and not answered. I don't know how to really use this app. Anyway after my last child I decided to look up information as to why so many ultrasound was done during pregnancy.  It's NOT for your peace of mind it's for the doctor's and some midwives that push it. My OB that I had said it's more for her not me. Also I read, which I can't seem to post any links here, that from since they develop ultrasound back in the 1960 more baby's come out with autism, same with using the dipper. I had bought the doppler and once I read about that I sent mine back! I also found out that the baby really hates when you use it it scares them now I see why my baby moved so much as if running away from it because of the sound waves it makes. I was told that only in an emergency should these things be used. I fell at 18 weeks and was spotting so I was upset to have an ultrasound but in this case I did and as I knew the baby was fine and was so upset that we disturbed it from its sleep! Lol. Anyway that was the first and last time. A few medical professionals I have talked to say if your going to have any wait until the brain is more developed don't be in a rush to do it.

My question for any mothers to be is.
Have any of you said no to doing any test due to the research that you have done and if so what did your providers say. Also how many of you like myself have done some research on all the test they want to do here in America. I am from the UK and a lot of the test they do here I did not do, true it was 18 years ago but I have not done some of them so far with this one. No pap smear or any other so far just pee in a cup and the first trimester blood work. I have been looking around for a new OB and midwife since I moved back to another County. Anyway I wanted to know from you mothers what is your take on ALL these test. To be honest being a health Adviser, working with and for a herbalist and an MD, ND I am finding that more and more of these test is more to make money especially if they don't educate you on how to be healthy.  I don't put my trust in man and his education only.
I like to go back to how it all began and compare!

Googling and reading articles by the uninformed is not "research"!!! The increasing rates of autism are not from ultrasounds, vaccines or anything else the increase is due to the changes made in diagnosis. If scans are bad for us and our children why are we seeing record highs in infant health and survival rates. Conspiracy crap can have serious negative effects on society. Do you really believe women and their unborn babies were better before advanced testing? The stats disagree. Listen to health professionals (herbologist are on the same level as witch doctors), they have the best information and technology and consistantly produce the best results (in terms of health and life-span). This is easily proven.

Find a midwife they do less tests and are less pushy on other types of things. Pretty much every test that is invasive in anyway can be declined. However most require ones that test for something that put your baby at risk being born vaginally such as for stds and gb... these also are not going to hurt anything anyway just swabs or blood.

I'm less scared of ultrasounds and dopplers than I am of things we come into contact with everyday such as food, air, water we put in our bodies everyday and in our little ones.
Just about anything in excess can be harmful just as on the other side occasionally it can do more good than harm. A good pregnancy example is tylenol... yes you can take it... should you often no... however should you take it if you have a high fever which could possibly do more harm than taking tylenol once? I'd certainly consider it.
