Had a d & c no period and ended up preg again

I have so much to ask.....
I had a miscarriage in March of 08, never saw my period and was given Pometrium for a week to take.  The cramps were VERY BAD.  Called the doc to ask what could be going, long story short I found out that I was pregnant again after Not having a period.  Took more blood test and found out that my HCG level had dropped.  So I was told that I will have a period in a few days due to my HCG level dropping from 31 - 29.  Could anything have been done differently?  I am 39 and I know with age there are more problems...  Please Help!!

Thanks

My heart goes out to you because I'm 39, too.  I'm so sorry for your loss but please keep your spirits up and don't lose hope!  Like the others have said, I've heard of many women in late 30s who have had m/c and gone on to have healthy babies.  Take care.

I'm 40 and 9w6d and so far so good.  Prior to this I had 4 miscarriages.  I told myself that I would fight to the end and never give up, because when you give up, that mean it beat you and I wasn't going to let that happen, so keep fighting and don't give up, it will happen.  There is someone on this board that had 10 miscarriages and is about ready to delieve soon and I believe she is over 40.

I am one of those women....
I had D&C in Jan and was prego again in mid Feb (they are guessing)....w/no period. Im 15 wks pregnant. I took baby aspirin and progestrone the first 12 wks.  And so far so good.  I agree w/Adgal...dont let the age deter you.  Im 35 and will be 36 when I deliver and there are plenty of women on here over 40.  We are here to support you!!!

I am so sorry you are going through this again.  I wish there were answers, so all of us who have gone through this could change whatever we needed to.  But the reality is, it is highly unlikely there is anything you could have done differently, it just happens sometimes.  I too just experienced another m/c and D&C, was on prometrium, and did everything by the book.  Yet there are women out there who use drugs, heavy drinking, heavy smoking, etc., and still continue on with their pregnancies.  Your right, our chances at 39 (I am 39 as well) are slightly higher, but don't let that deter you, I know I am going to try again.  There are tonnes and tonnes of women here who have normal, healthy pregnancies at our age, and much older.  Unfortunately, there are also many women here who have experienced what you are going through, but the good news is they have gone on to have healthy pregnancies and babies.  I am so sorry for your loss, but know you are in the right place, and there are many of us here to support you.

Take care and good luck to you.
