Congrats, that's great news!! Youi must be terribly relieved and excited ! I hope you don't mind me asking you, but could you please explain what kind of tests did you have in the first trimester? Is this 1:3121 an overall risk factor from different tests?Did you or going to have any invasive tests(cvs or amnio)?I' m really concerned about genetic screening so any info is welcome...

congrats - i just read you had a BFP!!!!!!  That is the best news!!  I am so sorry about your previous loss.  I am not sure what the exact circumstances were but our genetic counselor was really great and put things into perspective.  He said my overall risk (before the first trimester screen) was 1:80 of having down's or a trisomy.  He then said that is only 1.25%.  He also mentioned that even if you screen positive(a risk of about 1:300 or greater) for these two, most women come back negative after amnio.  This test allows them to send far fewer women for unneccessary amnios.  I would definitely have it done if you want info but you don't want to do an amnio.  The only problem is that it is not a yes or no answer - only a risk factor.   I really wish you the best of luck in this pregnancy and to a happy and healthy 40 weeks!!
