My wife is 6 weeks pregnant and today she got the results of the 17-OH Progesterone (17-OHP) test ordered by her doc. The level was 142.38 nm/l. The results say the standard is 3.55-17.03 nm/l for weeks 5-12 so it seems her level is very high. We haven't heard from the doc yet, but reading up on this isn't helping. It seems that a low level is linked to premature birth, but we haven't found much on very high levels. I did find that infants with this could have genital development issues. Overall, we can say that we don't understand at all what the risk of a high level might be and what can be done about it.
Also, my wife has had multiple blood tests to check her D-dimer levels. They have been consistenly high. The doc has us giving her daily injections of two different medicines. Reading about the medicines is concerning too, as both are not receommended for use in pregnancy unless the benefit outweighs the risk. I don't understand either so it seems we'd rather not use it! Does anyone have experience with high D-dimer and pregnancy?
Thanks.
