Honest, are these dumb names?

We don't know the sex of our baby which comes May 14th.  My mom got me hooked on Lucy because I already have a Lily. Thought that would be cute. One of my best girlfriends shot it down immediately and I was embarrassed to share it again. Also, watched my favorite movie Thomas Crown Affair last night and thought, hmmm Pierce for a boy?
Lucy
Pierce
What do you think? I originally liked Owen & Holly :) thanks!

You know, my MIL is sooo annoying too. I named my first Lily and about a year later (dd is almost 17mos) she said "I didn't like the name Lily at first but it's grown on me", AAAHHHHH, Some people have ZERO manners and let me tell you this lady is one of them! She hasn't even asked about names in fact last time we spoke she thought I was due in March, ugh, .......

I think they are cute names....Lucy is a bit old fashion but all the better since it's not as common.

Those are all great names!  That's why we don't tell people either, not even our parents or siblings. We don't want any opinions on the names we pick out. And you are right, people won't say anything negative about a baby's name if it is announced after the baby is born. Our 2nd baby, my husband was telling his folks some decoy names but I didn't know it at the time. I heard him say that a boy would be named Conner, which is not a name we picked out, so I was confused until he told me later it was just to get his folks off his back about the names. What a sweetie for not sharing the real names.  :-)

Have to get moving on a name list for this baby soon!!!  (27w1d)

You know, I think Tina is a good name, lol. Just kidding! I really, really like Lucy. I know a few Owens and all are good guys. I've know 2 Holly's and both were really smart. Which ever you pick is going to be perfect :)  I like the name Ayden for a boy, too. I liked the name Ivy for a girl, but Tim put the nix on it right away, he he he

I love Lucy and Lilly.  So very cute!!   If its a boy, I like Owen with Lilly.  I like Pierce, but I think Owen just blends better with Lilly.  Oh, I hope it's a girl though because I think Lilly and Lucy are just so darn cute together!!

I love the name Lucy it will go well with Lily. My daughters name is Destinee and I wanted my next child if it is a girl to be something similar like Trinitee or Desina
Desara (De-sar-a) but I keep thinking about her future and what other people would say.

My husband and I came up with "decoy" names for when people ask what we're naming him. One of my biggest pet peeves is people asking what you're naming a baby, and then feeling the need to give their opinion on it.  Its like, you asked me what I was naming my child....I did not ask your opinion on it!

We're 90% sure our boy is going to be Anthony....but when asked we say "oh..we have it narrowed down to William, Sam or Scott..and we'll decide when we see him."

People are less likely say rude things about the baby's name when they're actually here, and thats their name.

If you like Lucy....name her Lucy!!!  :)

All of your stories crack me up! Especially you Hannah, Jacob a derogatory name for Jewish people, ha ha ha.
Yes that is my Lily in the picture. DH FINALLY showed me how to post the pictures and now I'm thrilled.
Just got home from MY LITTLE PONY TEA PARTY at the Arena, give me strength....
Babyprayers-Lucy, yes I was going to ask you how you liked your name. People may think that's a funny question but I like my name and I would tell anyone :)
Thanks for all of the input!

Lucy is a great name and so is Pierce.

I wouldnt' worry to much about what other think... go with what you like.

DH parents don't like the name Jacob at all because they said there is a spanish word that is very close to Jacob and is a derogatory word for jewish people.  When he says the word, I don't think it sounds anything like Jacob tho.. If I had ever heard anybody use that term or if Jacob was an unusual name, I may have given that more credit, but I loved the name so I went with it.  They can call him Jake if it makes them more comfortable.

Go with what you like.

I agree with everyone so far...  there will always be "someone" who won't like your choice of baby names, so it's better to decide between your DH and yourself & tell everyone when baby arrives :)   As Shesherm always liked the name Saraya, I have always planned to name my baby Holly.  My last name starts with an "H", and so I got a few negative responses when I mentioned it.  My DH loves the name, too, so I decided we'll keep it to ourselves until baby arrives. (Of course, I have to get pregnant first !)
I love uncommon, old-fashioned names.  Lucy is adorable and, as everyone has said, goes well with Lily, which is also a great name !  Pierce is not too common & a strong name.  I LOVE Owen & Holly !!!
Good luck to you ! :)

Oh - I really like Lucy - that's cute - sounds like a silly, giggly little girl who has such fun in life and always has a big ole smile - very cute name!!!

I agree with Sheila though - if you are going to tell people the names you pick out , expect that you will have some positive and some negative and if you really like the name, you have to ignore the negative - its YOUR baby - name what you want!!!

ok, well my name is lucy, I love it now, but got picked on when I was younger.. As far as oliver goes, that is the name I picked out if I am having a boy, I am only 13 weeks so only a few more weeks and hopefully I will know for sure, I am pregnant with twins, and we have picked out oliver for a boy, and either ayla, macee, or mylee for a girl.. I think lucy and lily go great together. I also love the name Lily!!

Dont TELL!  Every time anyone would hear what I was naming my kids, they would come up with some comment....oh, dont name them that, I know a kid named that and he is a brat...or that was my grandmas name and she died of cancer.  Or whatEVER!

One of my dear friend's little brother just had his first little boy, and when my friend called to tell me that Emmett had just been born, I did not have the heart to tell him that is my DD's dog's name!

I think they are both really great names personally, but what do I know?

Is that picture your Lilly?

I like Lucy but Pierce would have to grow on me some more. What does DH think?
I wouldnt worry much about Friends comments. I stoped even telling mine what I was thinking...
Lucy and Lily does  sound sooo cute togather. Perhaps that stradgy  will help me decide on a name for mine. lol even though mine are spread far apart in age... ha ha
ugh.. My DH just told me this morning he liked Jennifer! That too would have to grow on me! (smile)  My first one was so easy... I too am due in May and am starting to fill alittle preasured. It is so tough trying to find just the perfect name.
Good luck

I really like Lucy (not common) and it goes well with Lily. Pierce isn't that common either. Don't pay attention to other peoples remarks!!!! I almost named my son Oliver (DH didn't like it) so, we went with Aaron.
