Checking is pointless. It doesn't tell you anything since you can go into labor before you're dilated or be at 4 cm for weeks.
I wanted to have a VBAC with my 3rd and had 3 drs try to talk me out of it. I was determined to try and found out the reason they didn't want me trying was because from the minute I was admitted to the hospital an OR team had to be at the ready in case of emergency. I attempted it anyway. It didn't happen because my pelvis is to small and she got stuck so I ended up with another C-section. But, it is your decision and if it is what you want I say go for it!
Good question, I'm supposed to have a c section but I'd love for vbac but some already are dilated at 37weeks. Which is when my section is scheduled. My OB knows I'd love for a vaginal birth but doesn't want to stress my body or baby. High risk here and just nervous.
My doctor don't start til 38 weeks but I'm 36 weeks and already dilated 1 cm and 40% ...they checked wenn I went to the hospital...
My doctor checked starting at 36 weeks. Some do no check because it is not necessary information. Some mom's don't dilate until labor and others can be stuck at a 4 for weeks.
It depends on the dr. Mine only started at my 36 week appointment, but it was at 36+5. You can always ask, but some do not check.
