Menstration and Pregnancy after D&C

HI Dr. Downing,

On Jan. 5th I began to miscarry at 9 weeks pregnant.  My dr. gave me medication to help things along.  Unfortunately this didn't work and on Feb. 3rd I wound up in emergency almost bleeding to death.  They did an emergency D&C, and I have been feeling better.  On Feb. 14th, I had unprotected sex with my husband for the first time since the D&C.  It is now Feb. 20th, and 2 days ago I began what I thought was my period.  I only spotted for about 1 1/2 days, then it stopped.  If I take a home pregnancy test, is it possible to get a false positive as could I have hormones from the last one still in my system?  Would it even be possible to get a result as I could not be more than 6 days pregnant?  Also, the 2nd part of my question.  I have been dealing with a semi-severe depression since this happened.  On 2 occasions since I may have conceived I took 1 gravol (it helps me sleep, and I don't like sleeping pills), and also drank fairly heavily on a few nights.  I have been not eating properly, etc.  I am seeing a Dr. at the end of this week to discuss, as I know these aren't the right things to do when you are that depressed.  I really didn't think I could be pregnant again, or I would never have indulged that way.  I am now extremely worried that if I am pregnant I have done severe damage to the fetus.  I have obviously stopped now that I realize its a possiblity.  What do you think?  I am scared to death.

Thanks for any information you can provide.
