im a ftm and 39+2 weeks pregnant and I'm just ready to meet my baby girl. MY edd is Monday the 25th and I really don't want to go pass it. I have a dr appointment tomorrow and ready to discuss some options on her arrival. I never wanted for my baby to arrive earlier than 39 weeks because I would read about some of the outcomes if baby did come early and I just couldn't put myself through it. I wish you ladies luck with your pregnancy. have a blessed day and may God bless you all!!!

I am 43 and 36 wks 2 days. The last time I was pregnant was 16 years ago. My previous pregnancies were 4 wks and 3 eks early. Both babies were very healthy and came on their own .... My water broke both times. It would be nice if this pregnancy ended the same way but I am having a girl this time and I am worried she will be taking her time. my Dr will not induce early unless it is medically necessary which right now it is not. So I guess I will be waiting on her to make the first move... I'm really uncomfortable though....

Glad to see this post. Im 28wks w/ #3 & im praying I make it far. I made it to 32wks with my last pregnancy and hated seeing my babies in the NICU. I would've done anything to "bake" :-) them longer.

I completely agree. I'm 38+4 and feel like I'm the only person not trying to speed up the process. Yes I'm uncomfortable, yes I'm excited, but I also realize that it's best for the baby to come on their own unless medically necessary. Pregnancy is hard, we know that going in. Really what is a few more weeks of discomfort if it means our baby is healthier?

I have been thinking the same thing for a while now. It really bothers me that these mom's would want their child to be born early instead of just waiting out the uncomfortableness for a few more weeks. Don't get me wrong I totally understand miserable pregnancies because I have had the book thrown at me. But I read today someone who is 31 weeks trying to induce, unless there is a medical emergency give your babies the best shot at life as possible and suck it up

I agree! As uncomfortable pregnancy as is, it's like that for a reason! We're creating life & it's no cake walk. It's hard & sometimes straight up *****, but at the same time is such a blessing & a miracle. I don't wish for one minute for my little guy to come early regardless of how uncomfortable I am. There's a reason pregnancy is typically 40 weeks.

I agree. It's the most frustrating thing ever. I've had a **** of a pregnancy, I'm 36 weeks now and so over it but I want him in there as long as he needs to be. All these methods with anecdotal evidence that women are trying are ridiculous. I just want to scream in their face that nothing they can do will make their babies pituitary gland release the oxytocin needed to send them in to labour so they should just be patient and stop wasting their time. I'm constantly reading posts and shaking my head. Pregnancy is so hard, but a lot of women with premature babies or lost pregnancies would kill to be able to carry a baby to full term - it just seems so selfish to me.

As a mom who has misscarried & had an ectopic pregnancy, I can't imagine rushing the birth of my child. To me, women should be grateful their body is able to carry their baby full term. So many moms are lucky to get their babies to the point of viability. I understand that it gets tiring & painful at the end (I'm there right now with just over a day to go), but if you choose to get pregnant, you need to take the bad with the good. Rushing your baby to "get out" early isn't healthy.

I don't think it's a trend. I think all women at about 35+ weeks have always wanted to have their babies as soon as possible,  as it gets exhausting carrying for so long. I don't know of any moms who actually want to give birth 5 weeks early, though. I do vaguely remember with my other two, being really anxious to give birth by my 37th week. I never tried anything invasive though.

Completely with you on this one. Its incredibly sad, so much better for mum and bub to wait if you can. Expecting my 2nd prem baby and wouldn't wish it on anyone. Dr says if I can make it to 24wks baby has a 50% survival rate, but if I can get baby to 28wks it has a 95%. And that completely flips your thinking around from I wonder when baby will come to I wonder how far we'll get. The stress and worry about the baby is enormous but so is wondering about its future, the guilt for not being able to carry it to full term, and the logistics of caring for your family while making nicu trips every day.

I think anyone considering self inducing early needs to be taken on a tour of a special care nursery and see just how fun having an unwell premmie baby is.
