Meli- I'm sorry I missed Parissa's Big Birthday!! I have been so busy with Brayden. I am with you on the painful nursing!! Brayden wouldn't even latch on, but I talked and talked with the lactation consultant and she said don't worry about it and continue pumping and he just might surprise me and latch on one day! I keep trying, but he doesn't stay there very long until he gets really frustrated and I give in and give him formula. It isn't too bad, I do give him what I pump, which is about 3 ounces at a time so he isn't getting that much formula. DH went back to work today after taking 3 weeks off and it is killing me!! He was my relief when I get so tired from pumping, feeding, bathing, rocking, pumping, feeding.. over and over!! I sure hope he does decide to latch on soon because it sure is taking a toll on me either pumping or feeding the little guy! I wouldn't trade it for the world though as I'm sure we will all agree with!! All I want to do is sit and hold him and rock him and just stare!! He's such a beautiful little baby I just loveeeeeeee him so much!!
I hope you are having so much fun loving on that little beautiful girl!! He does look like DH but has some of your great qualities too I'm sure.. she's just going to surprise you with them one day!! It's so fun sitting and trying to figure out what they get from who isn't it!?!? I just love it!!!!!!
Give her hugs and kisses from Brayden and I and Big hugs to you too!!
yea I love huggies too.. but for counting wet diapers they are not good...
Good luck TEnnessee.. I hope that she comes soon!! but I am glad that I beat you haha..
Ok WEIGHT LOSS to date haha
I still am retaining a bunch of water... swollen ankles galor... but.. to date I have lost 14lbs of the 42 that I gained... tried to put on my prepreg jeans just to torchure myself and there is no way those babies are even coming close to buttoning haha.. oh welll I am only 5 days past birth...
New MOM advice... Ok just so you know the lanisoh nipple cream or what ever it is called is great! It has saved me much pain BUT... it does NOT wash out of clothing.. I was going bra free in the hospital because I never did get around to buying a nursing bra and now it is on two shirts and does not wash out... soooo.. moral of the story wear a bra haha...
My dh had to go into work for a couple of hours today even though he is on 2 weeks of family leave :( but he was in charge of a project and has to pass it on to another and wrap up some loose ends! I hated to see him go! my girls are at school so this is the first time I have been alone with parissa... she is a sleeper boy! Just wakes up to eat.. thats it!
Ok thats all for me... see you all later!
Carpediem... thanks so much for your care! I can´t wait to see your little bundle either but enjoy pg.. but too soon it is over... I miss it but am glad to be able to know for sure that my baby is ok...
ha ha.. too late.. I got the huggies!! the other package I got was pampers.. one size up.. I did remember with the first dd... they outgrow the newborns..like really fast. so I only got one package. I liked the fact it had the top cut for the cord. oh well..others can benifit.
yea.. I hear you mel.. Im thinking the same thing. Im going to put my swimsuit on and go lay out by the pool and just down right relax. lol... everytime i get up to go walk.. my legs are so weak and dont want to move.. ha ha.. so why fight it right?
tomorrow I go in and have an u/s done to find out whats what!! Im sure he wants to see how big she is.. perhaps for a c-sec? I hope not! still have that lupus thingie.. to be concerned about, and my OB knows nothing about lupus. oh well not going to even think of that. ugh... just did!! maybe Ill hold off on the pool and sun !!!
hopefully they will help you with your bf!!! you really dont want to give her formula.. will cut your supply down. Is she taking to a pachie? your milk should be coming in real soon.. stick with it!!
love the updates.. wonderful pointers... thanks
Congrats, I know you're in love all over again
Congratulations! How wonderful. Hang in there with the breastfeeding and hopefully you'll get in to see the lactation consultant soon. Your milk should be coming in soon too, it can take 2-5 days. Try not to supplement. The colostrum is very nutritious for baby until the milk arrives. Best wishes!!!!
this cracked me up! i always loved huggies best, they stayed so dry, but i see why that is a problem for you now! tearing the diaper open is making me laugh! good luck to you and parissa
tennessee.. they didn´t kick me out I wanted to stay a bit to try to get bfing down but it didn´t work anyway.. still pumping.. I go in todya for parissas follow up appointment and they said if they can´t get her to latch they will give me a pump to use.. so lets keep our fingers crossed.. I went in on wend had her thurs at 205am and I left around 2pm sat.. so it was fine.. I was ready to leave though got bored of being in bed.
BEST ADVICE YET dont get the huggies newborn diapers...
I amhaving to count wet diapers (one for each day od life up to 7) to make sure she is eating enough.. and these darn diapers have like this stay dry liner in them that stays completly white.. and you can´t tell if there is pee.. I feel like I am waiting for my BFP and holding it up to the light and stuff to see if there is any pee haha... anyway I have had to resort to teraring the diaper open to look under the white liner to see the pee and how much... (like I did to the digital pg tests ) so in the hospital they gave me papers that had a yellow line on the front that changes to blue when wet... get those! they are much better!
ok you all have a wonderful day! love ya
Go tennesee go!!! get the baby here
So happy for you. What a wonderful birth. Hang in there with BFing. It is so worth it. Make sure you have some nipple cream as it really helps. Best wishes to your family.
Much congrats. While I know you want to breastfed, it won't come for a few days. Try formula temporarily just to get her something to eat.
congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God I wish I could of gotten the epi!!! it was 20 minutes b4 I delivered I got mine!, I am so happy for you, isnt it just the best thing n the world enjoy!!!
Happy Birthday Parissa =)

Wonderful story Mel! So happy for you and dh .....I can just imagine how proud he is of his little angel and his mama angel..hehe Don't give up on the breast feeding she needs that first milk that comes in! Well I guess I am gonna look forward to some of that epidrual which I was never given 20 and 16 yrs ago. I know life is great right now for you and I am so looking forward to having my bundle of joy this summer!!! Mel, take care and enjoy your miricle along with mommy hood!!!
BIG HUGS, Delma 26w6d
so glad to hear your little angel is here...congrats mommma :)
I had half and half on the epidural front one with my first two and the last one I had the middle three where all natural, so I too had to debate with myself and came to this decision I will just play it by ear , I have pretty fast labors but on the second note this being my 7th and my age I want to be prepared in case of emergency that I am already anestized so they wont have to resort to knocking me out in case of emergency then I miss the first cry and that, I guess the best decsiion it to leave it open till the day comes and take it from there
no.. didnt have one with my first... I have been planning on having one with this child.. but I have read pros and cons.. and now im totally confused. guess Ill just have to play it by ear... If she ever decides to come??.. ggrrrrr My sister had one and her labor was so less stressful then mine was.. but now she swears there has be long term side effects.. lol.. 15 years later.. she is one that goes to the dr for any reason what so ever.so I cant go by her experience... (Ill be nice) I did read it made labor longer though..
oh... after you had her... how long did you have to stay in the hospital? were you kicked out? or was it your choice.? lol... can you tell?... Im getting worked up?..lol my emotions and timeline is really at a panic.. breath Teresa!! and to think I had nine months to get ready!!
aha ha ha It is going to storm today, so I cant go and do my running outside..Maybe jumping jacks?? inside? you know I read.. that one labor.. the nurse had the women go and run down the halls with her dh.. to strart Labor on .? wow.. who would of know...
give that little one a hug for me... Just looking at her?... just want to kiss on her all over!!! enjoy..
well mommy congradualtions
You have no idea how much I personally appreciate you explaining how the epidural feels, and that its not painful to have done. I know I am such a long way away from having to make any decisions like that, but the idea of someone sticking a needle in my spine has always terrified me beyond belief. Your description just didn't sound all that bad. You have helped relieve another fear of mine.
I checked out Parissa's pictures...she is as beautiful as her name. I just love all that dark hair, what a doll!! Congrats to you again. Sorry you are having trouble with the breastfeeding, I hope that part all works out for you soon. Take care, and I'm glad your still coming on to visit!!
tennessee... the epidural is the best thing on gods green earth.. and after I got it I even told the lady you must be the most loved person in the hospital haha... They let you get it right away now and after that you don´t feel much just like b/h type pains... just tightening.. until the poop feeling and then you get to push... they just come in and give you some numbing injections in your back.. you are like sat up and a little curled over I had contractions during the whole thing but since I knew epidural spelled relief there was no way I was going to move... then they push in with a giant needle... I have never seen it but dh said it was huge haha... they push and push slowly and all you feel is pressure... then they give you a three dose set like a minute or so apart and are checking your b/p between every one.. and then the pain just goes away and you can sleep or whatever... I have had it with all 3 and believe me they are the best... Oh you get a cathiter too.. because you can´t get up to pee.. but you can feel and move your legs the whole time... just are a little like they are asleep feeling and they don´t want you walking around... then you stay a little numb during the rest... it is great! you didn´t have one with your last????
She is beautiful! Love all that hair, looks like a wig!!! She is precious! Thanks so much for sharing your story, I loved it!
What a beautiful birth story!!! I am so happy for you and DH.
Good luck with breastfeeding. I am totally ignorant about it, and have twins coming, so I better get on the ball!!!! I hope it gets a lot easier :-)
I'm so happy for you and you sound so happy! Breast feeding is one of the hardest things I have done in my life! Stick with it if you can, it will get better. She id darling, darling, darling. I can't wait to hold my baby girl.
She is sooooo beautiful! CONGRATS!
stick with it girl.. it will get better.. or she will get sronger sucking..
sounds like your milk hasnt come in all the way.. you will know it, when it does. smile
I have never tried them but I have heard there are nipple shields out there? maybe look into that? see if it can help with your situation..
you sound wonderful... and yes you did... so now I get to learn form your experience.. smile.. so how was the eperdural??? tell tell
Thanks everyone!! We are so so happy and in love!
Well nursing sucks.. I have these big boobies and little short nipples.. so latching on is soooo hard for her.. she is just killing me because it wont get down her throat.. now my boobs are engorged so forget about it... I called the lactation person at the hospital and they sid they are booked up till tues so I am to pump (manually) for 40 minutes every 2 hours.. that gives me about a half an oz... wow thats it... and I give that to her... she weighed 7lbs 8 oz at birth and two days later she was down to 6lbs 15 oz .. last night she cried and cried... so hungry so I was pumping since then anyway to get her something.. it makes me cry cause I just want her happy...
I am going to try to wait it out and see how it goes.. even pumping kills because my nipples are so damaged by her trying to nurse in the hospital.. sooo anyway that is the only hard part... at least now she isn´t crying so that is good..
question what color is the milk when it is in... is it off whitish yellow? or is it just white.. mine still looks yellowish.. I am hoping more of it comes in so I can pump more than just 1/2 oz in 40 min
Tennessee.... I beat you.. haha... I hope you get your baby soon!
I am just so happy for us all... being a mom is the best thing in the world..
PS Dh just came in here now and said he is so happy that I am the mother of his daughter! he has been great! Love you guys...
