pubic hair

How do you keep your pubic hair duing pregnancy and labor?FTM Ive always kept myself up, trimmed, shaved, shaped, etc. Now I cant really see it. What do you ladies do for upkeep? And what about labor and birth? Do they shave you? What if you tear or they have to cut? Any advice for upkeep?

Don't stress over your pubes. They are a natural part of our bodies. I kept mine trimmed but once I couldn't see down there anymore, I let it do its own thing.
Trust me, a lady bush is FAR from the worst thing your Dr has seen and when you are in full active labor, you won't care about it or who sees it. All you will be concerned about is getting that beautiful baby out of you and into your arms.
This feed is for 35+ so just remember, in the Era we were all born in, a hairy bush was considered a sexy thing so in essence,  we are bringing sexy back ;)

Once I'm passed the point of visualization, my husband will be doing it for me. Trim & shave. I've thought about waxing closer to delivery but a little nervous since I've never had that done before. But really, the delivery room staff couldn't care less what your Bush looks like - really.

Geekmom and ce5ce, thank you for your comments, thanks to all of you for posting but I feel comforted knowing that natural is ok. I would smak a nurse if I heard them making fun of something like that. As if we dont have enough to worry about. My pubic area has been so swollen anyway, I wouldnt want to aggravate it anymore. My OB said that the swelling is normal due to the increased blood flow, but it is quite uncomfortable. I just figured I would ask you ladies to see how others do it. I would prefer to stay natural as long as it wouldnt cause issues with stiches or something like that. And I truly dont care what people/nurses think, as if birth is pretty anyway. Everthing is streched and gross anyway. Again thank you all for your input. I appreciate your time and honesty.

It's not easy shaving. I squat down, use conditioner to shave (easier to use than a cream and helps prevent razor burn). I do the best I can, it's not perfect. Just by feel. No trimming it all gets shaved. I have a friend, she has her husband trim her hair down there with a mustache/hair trimmer.

I certainly do stay natural. I could care less what those nurses think. That hair is there for a reason and Im not going to stress about it. I do trim it down with scissors when it NEEDS to be but otherwise if they aren't going to shave me that's how it's going to stay. How ignorant that you can be made fun of for being pregnant and having Pubic hair. They were probably bored

Try using a mirror so you can see down there but your doctor nd nurses won't care either way

It would not matter a bit either way. Professionals who deliver babies every day honestly could not care less what your labia looks like and no, it certainly doesn't get in anyone's way. The whole shaving trend is very new - nobody had any trouble delivering babies in the 1970s... and no, they weren't routinely shaved then, either. None of the medical facilities I've worked in or associated with have shaven any part of anyone for any reason other than surgery - and my mother-in-law, who has been a nurse for over 40 years, says the same thing.
If YOU want to shave, or wax, or whatever, go for it. If you think you should because of what someone else might think if you don't... you're wasting your time.

Does anyone stay "natural" or could that do any harm or make things difficult for the doctors?

I have always kept up with shaving during pregnancy and really did a good job the day going in to deliver baby.  1st pregnancy I was cut to deliver baby and stich ed back up.  2nd pregnancy I tore really bad.  I would take getting cut over being allowed to tear with this delivery.  The doctor numbed up my labia and skin all around it, so when it was time to push, I didn't feel the stretching and tearing for baby #1 like I did for #2.  It hurt, feeling that tear!  As far allowed working allowed out shaving after baby comes, I did shave, but only when the spiky hair was driving me nuts.  My stitches hurt, my *** hurt, I was bleeding and don't even get me started with trying to poop.  Baby kept me so busy that I didn't get to pamper myself much.  The bottle of warm water squirting on the vagina as I pee helped.  Tucks pads (witch hazel) helped.  It takes time, and things start to feel better.  All I know is this time I am eating fiber rich foods and fruit.  Anything to keep poo soft.  I also learned with the last one that pain meds cause constipation.  That was a big mistake!  If you tear or get cut, trust me, your pubes will be the last thing on your mind.  But when you do go to shave just be gentle.  Avoid the stitched area and you will be fine.  Good luck.  :)

You will want to trim hair which you can do over toilet and use you fingers to guide/pull from skin....your hair length will be as long as fingers but you won't cut yourself. Unless your Husband thinks it is sex to trim you and do it for you, I would not ask him to do it! Husband's can get turned off and a bit traumatized by the whole pregnancy and birth stuff....Make sure you and hubby are good with your appearance and really, NO ONE CARES at the hospital what your bush looks like. Unless you have something super freaky going on like colors, pictures shaved in it, tattoos, EXCESSIVE hair....they really don't care or comnent on your bush. The are professionals with a job to do....they have seen many bushes and honey....yours may be pretty and all but really, they have have far more important things on thier mind than your bush or even YOU....A day after you leave, they will not remember you unless something super freaky goes on. Relax! This is GOOD! You and hubby need to be happy about stuff, who cares what others think. "IT IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS WHAT OTHERS THINK OF ME" has brought me great peace in life!

This is nuts but honest to God I've done it blindly on the toilet! Good position so I don't loose balance and for the most part can get everywhere needed(per my observations by feeling)
