left over hormones after IUD removal

For anyone that has had the mirena, when did you start to feel normal again? I had mine removed Sept 14, 2010 and I swear I felt better right away. The cramping was gone!! Fast forward to today, I am so hormonal STILL! I felt pregnant the whole time I had the IUD in and now I still feel that way! I know that im not. I hate feeling like this. Now I know they say that once its out everything "should" be back to normal. And you can even start ttc right away but how the heck is it true if the hormones are still lingering?? Again, let me clarify that im not TTC, I am just wondering when you started feeling normal (less hormonal), or when your AF came back regular. My first AF after mirena was 43 day cycle!
I have to say that my last AF was very mild compared to the pain I felt while having the mirena!! I didnt cramp at all!! And if I did I didnt feel them, probably because I have lived the last year dealing with such painfull cramps from the mirena that they didnt even register, lol!
Anyways thanks in advance to anyone that answers this:~)

I loved the Mirena the first time I had.  I had it removed Nov. 14th 2008 (after 18 months) and my LMP was Nov. 23.  This AF was short and I thought it was just bleeding from the removal.  I had one AF while on the Mirena the first time.

Second time - I was moody and miserable the entire time.  Had it for 18 months again.  Had break through bleeding and it was impossible to lose any weight.  Again removed March 5th, 2010, LMP was March 8th.  This was a long one for me - about 1 week (usually 3 days or less).  I had horible cramps this time too.

If you are not TTC I would be careful, it happened so fast for me both times.

I think i got af within a few weeks of removal - but then if i recall it was a very long period - like 3 weeks long.  I had it in for 2.5 years, had two weird paps and said yank it out, even though they said it wasn't the mirena causing anything but wouldn't ya know once it was out my next pap (they were doing them every six months) came back normal!

I might be crazy but it seemed my sex drive was almost non-existant by the time it came and out and pretty much hasn't returned.

It took me a good 3 months to be completely normal in my cycles again after I had the mirena removed, but by OB/GYN said to expect that so it didn't seem out of the ordinary for me.  I bled irregularly for a while and at points thought it would never stop, but now everything is fine.  Hope that helps.  :)
