maternity leave

Hi im 21wks3days. I wanted information on maternity leave. When can I start to take it?

Yes I have been working for my company for 18 years.

Yes, you do have to have been an employee for a year. Left that out! Sorry!

Fmla is only if you have worked for the company for a year...full time. There is a minimum amt of hours you have to meet. I can't use fmla so I only get 6 weeks at my job. Anything more, I can lose my job.

Depends on your state and employer. The US does not mandate maternity. You can have up to 12 weeks via FMLA if your company has more than 50 employees.  If you have STD sometimes it will kick in and pay you 60% of your wages but the Federal government does not require businesses to give you Paid Maternity Leave so you can use whatever vacation pay you have available and then STD if your policy covers maternity. Medical Insurance does not pay for maternity leave. None that I know if and I work in Healthcare.

Depends on state and company you work for... I think the average time most women take leave in The States is two weeks before their due dates. On average, most insurance companies will provide for
about 6 weeks, but most women prefer to allot most of that time to post partem, so they can be with their babies.

@jellis32010. Yes everything is fine so far. Im a ftm and I don't know how this works. Yes my job is alot of physical work.

Depends on your job of you have it, also if there is s medical need for you to be off. I hope all is ok. Also you should be able to use FMLA
