I don't know if you could choose an elective c-section - usually they want a medical reason in order to perform one.
Are you scared of going through childbirth? Is that why you don't want to be pregnant? I've never heard of taking a pill to induce an abortion - the common procedure is a d&c of some type. They use anesthesia.
I hope you highly consider other possibilities before going through an abortion and get counseling before undergoing this procedure. Good luck in whatever you do! - jen
Hello,
Since you are pretty early in your pregnancy then you may be able to take Misoprostle. This is the " abortion pill". and is inserted into the vagina. It can be very effective, but it will also cause cramping and some labor type pain. This pain can be managed easily with pain killers.
.
It sounds like you are considering keeping our baby. Please dont let pain be the reason that you do not want to give birth, Today they have so many ways to stop pain in childbirth. I am terrified of pain, but I had pain management during my babies birth and it really was Ok.
Good luck to you.
Lisa
The pain of child birth isn't so bad if you get an epidural or other meds to control the pain. I was suprised. Not sure about elective C-section, probably not. But that's painful as well. You still get an epidural like anesthesia for the c-section. And with a c-section you are out of commission for a couple weeks after the baby is born. With vaginal birth you are better able to move around right away.
And like Lisa said, don't let the pain scare you away from having the baby.
The D&C for an elective abortion is pretty scary too, sometimes they don't put you under and I heard you get injections in your cervix. That's not too appealing to me.
It seems to me the first thing you need to do is figure out whether or not you want the baby. This is a huge decision, and one that should not be taken lightly. I strongly urge you to seek counselling. Most family planning clinics should offer it for free. Please call now, time is of the essence, and you need to be really comfortable and confident in any decision you make. Good luck to you.
