Am I overreacting

I am 37 weeks 2 days. I'm debating on if I should ask my OB to write me out of work. I work at a hospital and they always have me sitting with patients who are combative. They tried to send me with a patient that's positive for the flu then when I refused they sent me to sit with a patient who later turned out to be combative. My doctor has already mentioned she's watching me for gestational hypertension. But am I overreacting about work?

I think your at the right time to go and just have the remaining 2/3 weeks to yourself. You worked this long and if you can afford it why not? Enjoy yourself and being at home comfortable. Id say go for it.

Have you had the flu shot?  That is typically mandatory to work in a hospital and recommended for pregnant ladies.  This isn't full proof, of course, but for most, prevents the flu.  

I think you can go to human resources and make your case.  We have to make sure not to make pregnancy like a disability and they have a right to require employees to do their job.  They need to get the jobs done, if that makes sense.  So, what you can and can not do, talk to the supervisor. If your doctor will write you a note, then fine.  Maybe there are some tasks you can get out of.  be careful about getting completely off work as this can trigger short term disability which has a finite time associated with it.  Usually this is 90 days BUT, it includes your maternity leave.  If you go off work really earl and the 90 days is up, you switch to long term disability which changes compensation pretty significantly.  But all that is particular to where you work and you should check that out.  Do you have an employee hand book or portal where you can read what your employers policies are?  That would be really helpful to be armed with hat info.

Being pregnant is hard.  No doubt.  Especially when trying to deal with work too.  good luck

I don't have a union, Georgia is a right to work State, and unless my OB writes a medical reason for me leaving work, I won't get short term disability until I have the baby. But I think at this point I don't care.  I can take the no pay for a little while.  I feel like my work is putting me at risk and they don't care. They floated me to a different department today and they got mad and sent me home because I refused to sit with a patient that was not only a risk to herself but a risk to me as well. I'm just over it.  Too bad I don't see my OB until the end of the week...

Your work either way will need to get used to you being gone for a little while now it is what it is and when you feel the need to protect your baby maybe it's the right time to leave!!!

Not at all we have the right to refuse unsafe or the right to protective gear and also health care workers where I work are to not go into certain rooms like shingles etc if pregnant we have a print out we ask for and get that states what clients we can't work with.
I would talk to manager if that doesn't comply then I would just go off. Do u have short term disability I had to do this due to false labour with my first and IGUR with my second... anyways talk to a union rep to if you are not sure why we pay our union dues...
I was on light suites told I could sit with clients in sessions well brain injurys are not predictable and out of reaction you try to catch them if falling I was able to talk to my boss they said light duties so my doctor then put a 5 lbs restriction...good luck momma
