30wk kidney ultrasound

Tomorrow is my follow up ultrasound to see if babies kidneys went down in size. At my 20wk ultrasound they were dialated. I'm hoping they have gone down and baby won't need his own ultrasound after he is born. Don't want anything to be wrong with my little man. I know that there are worse things I could be going threw but I hate worrying and not being able to just fix the problem! Wish us luck! Any other moms have this problem and it fixes itself?

Im currently in the same boat! only its just one of his kidney's. dilated to 6.6mm at 21w ultrasound. (originally seen in 19w ultrasound along with possible clubfoot) they re-did my ultrasound to find possible bilateral clubfoot, and to check his kidney. it had gone down slightly, but will be watched. they said its common, especially in boys, and usually resolves by birth. if not, more than usual an antibiotic is prescribed to prevent any unwanted UTI's until it goes down to normal. =]

Goos luck! I had mine at 30 weeks to check my little man, unfortunately his left one is mildly dilated, so they'll have to do an ultrasound after he is born to check again. My doctor isn't worried and said there's a good chance that it is fine and because the ultrasound is done through me to get to him it can sometimes cause the kidney to appear dilated when it isn't. Hoping everything goes well and you get some good results!

No excessive fluid. Its just his kidneys. They are enlarged, in some cases they go down before birth. If not he will need an ultrasound after he is born to better evaluate.

Thanks for the kind words alid32, I'm glad your daughter is doing so well now!

Do you have excessive amniotic fluid? I have excessive fluid so they kept checking baby boys kidneys through ultrasound but never found a problem

It's hard to have a child go through something and not be able to fix it. When my daughter was two she was diagnosed with a neurological disorder, nothing life threatening but it caused her to lose control of her body. They didn't know what caused it. It was really scary. She's eight now (today is her birthday:) and she no longer exhibits any symptoms of the disorder. The doc said she was fine!  So some things do heal themselves:) Good luck mama!
