With my 1st child I think I cleaned house all day even mopping the floor on my hands and knees with some soapy rags and dusting.. That afternoon was planning on going to my parents house for dinner, sitting in the chair waiting for them to get home, I felt a kick and herd a loud pop and then I felt the contractions.. I had Braxton hicks before that but nothing severe and nothing at regular intervals.. Hoping this pregnancy is a little different in that it gives me time before my water breaks, being that my husband does alot of out of town work.
Sgulia1987 haha... That's exactly what the midwives would tell us to do when she explained everything. Go to sleep until contractions are close like yours haha
I'm really hoping it would be quick and easy like when I came out. Its my first and I'm my mom's second. She was only in labor for about 30 mins with me... And I wasn't all that big either at 6 lbs some odd oz lol. Lucky momma
Well the second I had a contraction I was like oh wow well that’s a contraction lol. We had just gotten in the car for dinner resercations. I didn't say anything and because I didn't want anyone freaking out. I only had a few contractions an hour. When we got home I debated weather t go on our nightly walk and see if things progress or go to bed (it was late) I decided to go to bed that I would be better off rested. I semi woke up here and there with contrations but slept through the night. I woke up to full blown contractions at about 2.5 min apart. Went to the hospital 2 hours later ws 4 cm had my son 6 hours after that. I also had load of BH the few days before I went into labor. As above I highly recommend getting some sleep if you can. I slept through all of my early labor and woke up at active labor fully rested and ready to go. It made the birthing experience much easier. Everyone was so shocked when they saw me because I didn't even look like I gave birth. Also eat before you go to the hospital if you can. You will not be allowed to eat there and if you're in labor a long time or go really early that's a long time to exert so much energy and not eat.
I couldn't sleep at the hospital while I was waiting. I did try to close my eyes and just rest. My labor was pretty quick (I think) for first time. It was 12 hours from the time I started mild period like cramps to the time he was out. I pushed for about an hour, and honestly, I found it exhausting! I was alo super hungry afterwards. Because it was the middle of the night, nothing was open and the maternityt kitchen only had bread! I could have ate the whole loaf. Definitely think that you should be able to eat if you are not feeling sick.
I have actually vowed to myself that I will not start timing things unless I really feel like its the real deal :) last night I got a really good nights sleep and hope to have a good couple nights sleep until he comes. Part of me wants to get the house cleaned up and laundry done but then part of me wants to ave my energy :) I never thought about the eating part though! Thanks!!
I haven't yet but advice from my midwife. She said first time mommies get so excited they time everything and so on and so forth and just stay up and not rest. Rest as much as possible so you'll have the energy to push when the time comes. Eat and drink too. I don't think hospitals like that if that's where you're going to have the baby but if not, it helps keep you energized. Real food like protein, not snacks.
