Choosing a hospital

Hello, just got a positive pregnancy test and believe im about 5 weeks. I'm calling my ob/gyn to schedule an appointment soon but I think I want to change to a new ob/gyn because I dont  want to go to the hospital where she is affiliated.  Does that make sense? Or can I stay with her and visit whatever hospital id like, one that claims to have more experience with deliveries? I just want to find the best ob/gyn and hospital but not sure how to start looking.  Tnx for your help!

I think that makes total sense.  You need to feel comfortable with your doctor and hospital.  It would be a good time to change since you are still early. Double check though to see if she has privileges at the hospital you want.

I also like my ob office but am switching for this pregnancy as I don't like the hospital they are affilated with either. You can certainly check to see if your current ob had privileges at the other hospital you like. Manny docs have privileges at more than one.  Good luck and congrats:)

Some doctors are affiliated with more than one hospital so you could always ask your ob if they are or you could go to the hospital you like and get a list of their doctors and they to pick one from their list. I am not looking forward to delievering at the hospital where my ob os affiliated but I love my doctor. And the next closest hospital for me to deliver is about 60 miles away so my options are very limited.
