I am 31 weeks pregnant  and jobless but luckily for me I was offered a job with the nhs my dream role. I start when my lines manger gets back from her holiday. She doesn't know that I am pregnant I am having sleepless night that if she does find out she might sack me , this is my only source of income .my families aren't supportive and my partner is not really there for me. I have been told to move out of the house. Pls help.  Also during the interview I wasn't asked if I was pregnant. Should I tell her when I start or hide the pregnant . Am due on march 4

They cant fire u for being pregnant! Im actually in a lawsuit against a local private owned kfc. I worked there for 2 months then found out i was pregnant! I told my manager i was pregnant the moment i found out! The next 2 week schedule i went from 36 hours a week to 5 hours! another employee told me i was being recorded and that they are trying to fire me for anything they can cause i am pregnant and they dont like pregnant people working there. I put my phone on voice record and went and asked the owner if i was being fired for being pregnant. He looked at me and said let me tell u something. I dont pay unemployment or maternity leave. I have ways of getting around it. I said so u cut my hours to make me quite so u dont have to fire me. He said pregnant women arent aloud to work for him. I can ether take the 5hours or i can quite. I told him i recorded what was said and he told me he was joking and that he will make sure my hours went back to normal. I told him i was taking the recording to an attorney! Walked out to my truck and left! Went straight to my attorney and filed papers!

Giving that you're 31wks,  I would imagen that you are showing maybe the fact that they didn't ask means they don't mind.

Is the nhs the National Health Service?  If so, it is certainly a big enough agency to have policies about this.  Look up what their policy is on how long you are on probation (i.e., how long you have to work in a new job there before your status is not seen as being temporary or conditional).  If you're really at 31 weeks, it's likely that you're in some kind of conditional status until past your 40th week.  I guess I'd work at least a week and try to look every kind of perfect, before telling your boss that you are pregnant.  Maybe that will make you look so great that she won't be angry that in only 9 weeks you will be needing maternity leave.

I would tell her when you start the job and be honest... tell her nobody ever asked so you didn't say anything but that you thought she should know, she can't fire you for being pregnant thats discrimination. And seeing how you're new she'd have no other reason to fire you that she could use as a cover up.
