first scan?

I've been to see my doctor last Monday at 8weeks. He told me my first scan is at 18weeks but would get a letter to confirm this. This feels a long time away. Is this normal. I know a friend had her first one at 15weeks and she thought this was very late on. What yous think?

It depends on both your insurance and your doctors office. With my first three babies my first ultrasound was at 20wks. There's really no medical reason to have one sooner unless you're having a special test done. Two of those pregnancies I that was the only ultrasound i had the entire pregnancy  With this baby I'm at a different office with better insurance and they gave me a dating ultrasound at 8wks.

My first scan was at 8  weeks and my second was at 22 weeks. Just how my doctor's office does it. Yes I think that's late for a first scan.

You SHOULD be offered one at 12 weeks for the nuchal translucency test! Of course different insurances allow different things.
Mine allows two unless dr orders more
