My partner and I decided to do the screening. Granted we would love our child either way but since this is our first it was a precaution so we could be ready for anything.

I opted out because I had an ultrasound the following week where we could tell the results for it by looking at her. I mainly chose to opt out because after doing research the odds were way to high for false positives only to then be tested again more thoroughly with the ultrasound. No thanks! I don't need the stress of wait fir results that had a huge chance of being false

I would not opt it out even though i know some people still love their baby regardless if the baby has down syndrome or not.  But I would do the test anyways even though it might cost money but we should expect to spend money when we plan on getting pregnant. The test wasn't bad at all, mainly just one poke for blood test and the rest was just ultra sound.

My friend opted out and then when she had her anatomy scan at 20 weeks, they found out on the ultra sound that the baby had EDWARDS syndrome which she had no choice then to terminate it because even if the baby is born - the baby will die right away or within a week.

Yeah I'm on my 3rd pregnancy and have never had it... Same reasons as above, wouldn't change anything and there's less poking around (and less potential stress if given a false positive - I know 5 women who have been told their baby has DS or another genetic abnormality and 4 of the babies were perfectly healthy! And 1 is an adorable little boy with DS :) )

I had it with my first. They said my daughter had a 1 in 2 chance of having downs. I had the verifi test done and it came back negitive. She's a happy and healthy 7 month old. With my second I just did the verifi. It tests for more then what the quad testing is.

I opted out with all 3. Wouldn't make a difference to me, personally, if any of my babies had it. :)

I opted out of it with both pregnancies.  It wouldn't have made a difference to me and the less poking,  the better to me!

I did only because it was recommended.

I did the first time. It wouldn't have made any difference to me and amniocentesis is quite expensive. And that method has a pretty high false positive rate. I did the Progenity test this time, only because it was being offered for $99 and because it told me gender super early. Otherwise I would have opted out again!
