I had this with my first and really wasn't even quite sure what it meant. I went on to have a great labor experience at 38 weeks!
I did with my first pregnancy. I was told to see a second doctor to monitor my platelet count.Towards the end of my pregnancy I was seeing 2 different doctors every other week or so. I ate lots vitamin K found in green vegetables and steak in hopes of increasing my count. My count stayed low but did not get lower. But basically low platelet count means that your blood will not clot properly to stop bleeding. I had a c-section and my ob ordered blood in case I needed a blood transfusion but I didn't need one. With low platelet count he thought I would loose too much blood. Everything turned out fine and I did not need a blood transfusion. Also, when they check your count, they should check your blood in the lab within an hour or less. The longer your blood sits, the lower your platelet count may seem and the count would be inaccurate. To get an accurate count, they would need to measure right away
