wait til 42 wks?

Im 39 weeks and at the beginning of
my pregnany i decided that i had
wanted a vbac. But last week my doctor said he will wait up until 42 weeks and then c section me if i havent progressed. I feel like why wait the 2 weeks just to have a c section in the end? Should i just schedule a c section? I know there are higher risks the longer you wait and my husband and i are torn as to what to right thing to do is. Any advice or prior experience?

Thanks! I talked to my doctor and he said im 1cm dilated. We agreed that if i dont progress by next week then well schedule a c section.  And i actually feel alot better knowing i have a plan. Thank you guys for the encouragement!

Mommietobe- vaginal birth after cesarean acronym. Tabatha- why wait? Because you DONT actually KNOW that's what's going to happen anyway! If you wanted to give this a shot- do it.  If you're changing your mind- change it.  But if its for no other reason than losing your optimism about it... Then I offer you encouragement! You can do it!!

I had a c section with my first after being in labor all day and then had issues with feeling them cutting me and not being numb enough so they knocked me out. My first c section was hard and very painful I decided to just do c section with my second one because I didn't want the same thing to happen. My second c section was so much easier. They got me numbed right away and got baby delivered and I wanted to be up and walking around all in the same night. I know everyone is different but the second time around with the c section was easy.

I totally understand! Your well being is what matters the most. I was in labor with my first for 13 hours then I was rushed into the csection room... So I got to experience pain, contractions and trying to push then being rushed to the csection room. So this time around I scheduled a csection & going through with it. Yes it may take a while to recover but it all depends on the woman & how much she pushes herself to actually get back on her feet.

Thats what we figured. My husband is more worried about my wellbeing now that the baby is full term. And we just want to make sure that its the right choice. I had a previous c section n i felt like it took forever to recover i dont want to go threw that again but almost feel like maybe it being scheduled will help..instead of being in labor for 17 hrs then a c section..it just took so much out of.my body

I'm having a csection NEXT week... I also wanted a vbac but because I had an emergency csection with my first & have one linin so with second pregnancy I decided to just schedule a second one knowing that there is a HIGH chance I will be rushed into the csection room. You do what your heart desires, for the safety of you & your baby!! I really wish you the best in your delivery... Good luck.

I don't have any experience in that, but it's perfectly safe for baby to enter the world at this point. I say why not schedule a c section. Again though I am not educated in this field.
