spotting during your 17th week?

I'm (28 y/o) and 17 weeks along with my first child, starting last night I felt a lot of pressure in my lower abdomen and pelvic area. I also was having pains in my lower back on the right side. Well tonight the pressure and pain came back. I went to the restroom and notice a reddish/orange spotting when I wipe. Is this normal or should I be worried?

Do not panic! I had spotting at 16 weeks with all of the weird pains you described. My doctor told me it was pretty common and some women just experience spotting whilst pregnant. It could be caused by any number of factors. Your cervix is very sensitive right now. I spotted over a 3 day period, anything from Brown to deep red.

My doctor told me not to worry unless it was enough to soak a menstrual pad and was bright red.

Get to the doc if it was bigger than a twenty cent piece, or a nickel in us. Also, if u have a negative blood type, ignore the above and get to the hospital NOW!
