Baby Elowyn Has Arrived!!

On Wednesday morning, April 15th, we went into the hospital to be induced due to my steadily increasing blood pressure. Due the 13th of April but the doctor didn't want to let me go much farther as she looked to be between 8-9lbs & the swelling in my feet was getting bad even though blood work looked good.
We arrived at 6:30am, water was broken at 8:06 (which was uncomfortable) & they started pitocin. When I got up to go to the bathroom there was a huge gush & soon contractions started. I breathed through them knowing it wouldn't last forever & I would soon be with my baby girl!
I started at 1cm & by 4pm was at 8cm. In between that time I dilated 4cm. Within 2 hours! Contractions were on top of each other & the pitocin made me throw up once. My body was shaking a lot but everything was going well-everything in check & by 4:30 I felt like I needed to push.

Elowyn Magnolia was born almost 9 hours after my water being broken & about 20 minutes of pushing. No epidural, just concentration & support from my wonderful husband & awesome doula & nurse! I couldn't believe how fast she came! This is my first baby & I expected a much longer labor. I tore up & down-not fun-but I'm healing well.

She's completely perfect. Beautiful & healthy as can be. She was nursing within 10 minutes of being born & came out screaming! She's very easy to soothe & alert, I can't put her down or stop looking at her!!

What an amazing experience this has been. I am so grateful! Thank you ladies for answering my first time mom questions & allowing me to vent when I needed to! I wish you all the best!!!

I didn't feel the tearing, definitely felt the stitching though! The doctor gave me two shots to numb the area while new stitched but I still felt it-it hurt but I was holding my new baby so that distracted me from some of the pain!  Healing is a messy job & sitting isn't easy but I've got a couple soft ice packs I put down & thank god I made padsicles (big extra long maxi pads with witch hazel & aloe gel-i also added a few drops of lavender essential oil, then pop them in the freezer) before we went in-I highly recommend making at least 20 of these to come home to!!

P.S. :-)

She was only 6lbs & 15oz! So the ultrasounds were quite a bit off. Born at 4:51 p.m. only 17.5 inches long. Strawberry blonde hair & the biggest eyes!!
