Avoid spicy foods, do not eat 1-2 hours before bed. Eat smaller, more frequent meals . Eat high protein foods, low carbs . Also at times saltine crackers can help as well. Tums are good yes, took them with all of my pregnancies. Make sure you buy the extra strength ones. Take 3 at a time. a they are also a good source of calcium. And before taking anything ask your Dr if it's safe first more than likely they will write you a prescription for something if the tums won't help. && water!! Yes water.
&& remember even though your preggers, you are not actually eating for two. Baby only gets some of the good stuff from what you are eating. You only need 309 extra calories a aDay, it's is 2 hard boiled eggs OR A peanutbutter sandwich. And 600 calories a day for twins. Hope this helps
I craved rennie spearmint with my first I would shamefully eat about thirty a day my midwife said it was fine as long as I don't get constipated from them which luckily I didn't. I have never been a milk drinker so that's why I was craving the calcium and chalkiness of them. But my little boy turned out fine and didn't come out smelling of spearmint as my family would joke.
My OB doesn't allow tums but recommender Prilosec. I had heartburn to the point of throwing up with my daughter and this time it's almost as bad. And Prilosec knocks it out in a day and it never comes back as long as I don't stop taking it.
Try tracking for a day or two what foods you are eating and you might notice certain ones making it worse. But sadly heartburn just goes with pregnancy:(
Mylanta worked alright for me. Also small frequent meals which are lower in fat/protein/spice. Also caffeine can make it worse
The only thing that helped when I was pregnant with my son was spearmint gum! It work's instantly, so amazing. Hope it works for you
