Birthing on camera, did/would you?

Did/ would any of you film the birthing on camera or take pictures of down there whilst they deliver the baby?

I'm a ftm at 29+2, in The Netherlands. Personally, i gross out to the idea of having on record  my Tweety exposed like that ...

( it prolly has to do with my traumatizing childhood experience, where my aunt decided to share her birthing video whilst we, kids of about 10 years old, visited her and the newborn. The memory haunts me till this day)

Then again it's a once in a lifetime happening which you can never retrieve. Happy to read your input!

I did with my first. My mother-in-law wanted to be in the room so I gave her a job to do. Lol. I just gave her the camcorder and told her where to stand, she stood by my shoulder aiming down toward my feet so you still saw when baby was lifted up. To this day my daughter loves watching it, she's 10 now and it still tugs at my heart strings when I hear the first time she cried.

Yes! Loved it. I've got photos and videos of both births. I'd say if you're not sure just get them anyway... I wasn't sure, and didn't want to watch them at all for a few weeks while I was so sore, but loved watching them later. I certainly like that they are both pretty modest... It was dim and I was in a birth pool so everything is a bit blurry and not right up in your face lol! Had a bikini top on, so I could show anyone the birth video really without me or them feeling weird :) Absolutely love the memories and looking forward to showing the kids one day!

hiya, i'm based at Eindhoven - what a coincidence!
Chances are bubba will arrive early, for which I have found a foundation called Stichting Early Birds that are specialised in premature birth photography for free.

If all goes well and i carry all the way through, I'd like to get in touch with the ppl u mentioned. Depending on the price and if indeed tastefully, i would love to have our first impressions on picture. Pls do follow up with their details eg. Website or phone number. Thanks so much and all the best with 'de laatste loodjes'!

I am having my 4th child in just 2 weeks and I more than anything want to have this birth taped so I can watch afterwards. I wouldn't want to see what is going on during because I'm worried it will make me panic or freak out. But I'm really excited to watch what happens after its all over and I have my sweet baby girl with me

I have not yet decided on whether or not we'll have a birth photographer present. When we were originally planning a homebirth I definitely wanted a photographer there but because of some complications we'll have to be at a birthing center again and I'm not sure it would feel the same. I sure wouldn't mind having more pictures taken than last time, professional or not. I couldn't see much of what was going on and I would've loved to see my husband's face when he first saw his son.
Back when I was a nursing student I did get the chance to take video of a patient's cesarean birth of her twins with her husband's cell phone. They were both behind the curtain and couldn't see the process but wanted the chance to watch it later and I don't blame them. It was awesome. Watching the practiced and smooth work of the doctors and nurses as they brought those teeny twins into the world was pretty amazing.

I think a lot of places don't allow it....I personally don't want it recorded. The entire giving birth thing just grosses and freaks me out...I can't even believe I'm gonna go through it. I get panic attacks thinking about it. So I'd rather not relive that experience.

My husband recorded when our daughter was born.  I love it. There is so much that I didn't remember even right after she was born. It seems like it would be something that would stay in your mind forever but it doesn't. While watching it I didn't realize I had passed out 3 times, I refused to reach down and touch my daughters head when she was crowning or the words my mother,  husband and doctor said right when she was born. It is a private video for my husband and I and when she gets older and wants to see it, my daughter.
I am upset that the hospital I will be delivering our son I  does not allow the birth to be recorded

Maybe tastful pics from the side or from up by my head but certainly not a video. That's just a private memory that I want and I feel belongs to me only. Besides I'm sure my children wouldn't appreciate my name calling or swearing as I'm trying to push "their big fat demon head" out.lol

Birth photography or videography, doesn't have to include private body parts. It can be done very tastefully and artistically. Where in the Netherlands are you based at? I have moved to Aachen now and pregnant my self, in week 37, but our photography group is still active in Eindhoven, if you would like you can contact them through me for tips and tricks or see if someone can step in for you. Else you can Google to get inspiration on the same. All the best!

I agree there's woman that I applaud for having the courage to watch something like that but me personally, I think certain memories should just be kept in memory such as giving birth, and funerals. Everyone's different but I don't think everything has to be recorded in order to have that memory.

Hubby recorded our 2nd birth and I'M glad we have that memory always. Hopefully we can capture the birth of this baby as well, last delivery went by too fast we didn't have enough time.

It all depends on if you are alright with seeing the "twenty" going thru that kind of trauma. I for one dont want to see mine doing that.

Yes I would tape my birth of my child or have a nurse do it for me just in case the father was late getting there like my dad was. I think my birth would have been funny to watch cause according to my mom I was driving the doctor crazy cause I didn't know which way I wanted to come into the world. And I also think it would be very beneficial in the future of children having safe sex or no sex
