Can't express colostrum?

Hi girls, I am having an issue here. Midwife advised me to express some colostrum before baby arrives. Well I can't squeeze anything out of my breasts not even a bit:-(( I am 37 weeks 5 days. Anyone in the same boat?

Some people just don't produce until labor hormones are really flowing. I had zero colostrum before my son was born but the moment he was born and I brought him to my breast he was able to draw it out. Baby saliva stimulates prolactin better than anything else ever created. I could never really hand express successfully but eventually got the hang of pumping - always had plenty of milk though, and nursed my son for two full years. There's nothing wrong with you or your breasts. Your baby will have plenty to eat. Think positive!

Yes, try right after showering. Or in the shower.

It may be to early still. Try laying in a warm bath, let breast soak a while- then do it! The heat brings it down. Hope that helps...
