Castor oil??

Ok so I am 36 weeks into my pregnancy & I've been feeling very constipated lately so a friend had recommended castor oil to help but my main concern is will it harm the baby in any way?? I know of some who had went into labor days after using it but it's not my time just I'd rather my baby come when he's ready....Any suggestions?

Make a smoothie with 1c prune juice, 1/4c yougurt, 1/4 strawberries, and 1/4c blueberries. I added some kale too for extra fiber. Honestly can't taste prune juice at all. Longest result was the next day but usually works in a couple hours. Good luck!

Cafe con leche always made me go :p. Also milk of magnesium was mild but made me go without pain. Good luck. :)

I'm not one to feed into negativity so I really don't mind what anyone has to say about what I post but yes I completely agree bcuz my oldest which is 6 now had a bowel movement inside of me at the same time I was in labor with her but I was also 41 weeks at the time....but maybe a different route I guess but thanks fir your opinion...

It's safe as long as you only take a little bit. The dose on bottle should be fine, some women take large doses and whole bottles trying to induce when in reality it don't take that much. Poo cramps are normal as with any laxative, more than recommend can give you diarrhea and some nausea. If you get diarrhea from taking large amounts then there is a possibility that you could get dehydrated. All side effects are minor and if you go into labor they can fix them at the hospital, some hospitals give iv anyways and it's normal to get nauseated during labor. Good luck and hope you can get the bowels moving.

At 36 weeks I'd take something else for constipation like fiber powder. Castor oil puts a lot of women in labor. AND IT IS SAFE. But you're not full term until 37 weeks. I took it at 37+6 and within 8 hours I was in labor at 38 weeks and had my baby.

Munch on a few prunes or plums. That typically gets my preggo bowels moving nicely without any cramps.

Honestly Your Gonna Get A lot Of Rude Comments On Here Cause You Posted This. Cause When I Did I Got A lot...
And As An RN ,
Castor Oil Affects Everyone Different.
I Personally Tried It To Jumpstart Labor, It Didn't Work For Me And I Did NOT Get Sick Or Have The Runs.
Others May Have Gotten Sick, The Runs Or Even Labor.
But Like I Said It Affects Everyone Different.
Some Also Say (Don't Take It It's Bad And Can Cause Your Baby To Have A Bowel Movement)
Beinq Completly Honest, Your Baby Can Have A Bowel Movement Inside At ANY Time.. NOT Just Cause You Took Castor Oil.  Alot Of Babies Have Bowel Movements And Most Don't Even Know.
Anyways... It Is Your Body, And Your Preqnancy .
You Can Do Whatever You Please, It's No Harm.
Your Considered Full Term At 37W.
If Your Constipated You Can Do Castor Oil Or Do Spicy Foods.
Wish You The Best Of Luck (;
