As far as I am aware for anyone having a baby on the NHS everything is free. You go into hospital and have the baby and that is it you go home after the birth. You don't need insurance or anything..
It is free for British Nationals and certain immigrants however I now see signs in hospitals which say if you are a foreign national then you may have to pay costs, it doesn't say what the costs are however. Sorry I can't be much help.
I'm in uk and its all free there are really good over here too :)
Thank you for your response ladies.
well, i'm a Swiss national and do not require a visa etc for the UK (EU / EEA rights). but i thought it depends on whether you are a tax payer or not. And we do pay council and income tax here.
i'm just worried about extra expenses if i require a c-section, medication, hospital stay (ward) for a few days), etc.
Also again if you are entitled to full nhs then you don't need to pay to stay in hospital either. If it's for one night or one month. Hope this helps... If you are at all concerned then ask your midwife or phone the CAB xx

Thank you so much for all the details and your kind response, mommy_to_beauties :-)
That's okay i hope i helped :-D where abouts do you live in the UK?xx
i live in London. What about you?
how many appointments you need
how many scans you have
whether you have the baby naturally
whether you need a c section
whether you need inducing
etc etc
anyone entitled to nhs gets everything for free whether you are a tax payer or not...
The only thing a tax payer will normally pay for is any prescriptions you may have for medicine etc but you may be eligible for a 'maternity exemption certificate' which allows you to get all of your prescriptions for free been as you are pregnant. xx
