If you're positive for sure prepare for the antibiotics by eating lots of yogurt for the probiotics and love cultures. Antibiotics can raise your risk (and baby's risk) of yeast infection! Personally I wouldn't want to risk ferrying a yeast infection in my vagina directly after giving birth or my boobs since I plan to breastfeed!

I tested positive. They just gave me an IV antibiotic  during labor. It didn't effect my son at all, but I feel like it messed up my natural bacteria balance. I wish I had thought to take a probiotic or something. Big picture though, baby is healthy, that's all that matters :)

I had it with my son and they gave me antibiotics before giving birth. They said it was no big deal. However he did get a fever on the second day afterwards. I don't know if it was because of the strep B. They never told me. But he went to the NICU for 4 days to monitor him and then I was able to take him home. It never occurred to me that it was from the strep B until a long time later. But again, they never said that's what it was from. They just said it can happen sometimes. I'm hoping I don't have it again this time. Also cuz I hate antibiotics and I just think they are horrible for your body and kill so much good bacteria along with bad.

They will just put you on IV antibiotics when you are giving birth. If there are any concerns they might take baby to the nicu for an hour or so for observation but I've never seem any long term issues arise. :-)

They just give you antibiotics while delivering. Just to keep the baby from catching it.
