I did them this pregnancy. And they worked, I'm now full term! Yay! (Although note so ready for baby to come) My son is healthy and I didn't really have any horrible side effects. The shots are worth it for a healthy baby.
I got the progesterone shots for the last 5 1/2 months. I got my last shot last week : ). Its worth it. I have a serious phobia of needles but after the first few shots it didn't bother me at all. I went to the drs office every week for my shots and a check up because I'm high risk but I know some people give themselves the shots at home. Good luck
Did your insurance help cover the medication? Are they injections super painful? I'm taking them either way just curious
My insurance helped but we still had to pay about $23 a month for the 4 shots a month.
I started at week 17 and my last injection will be next week (34th week)! They're a little annoying at first, but you get used to it after a few. The solution is thick as the brand name is actually Makena Oil. The manufacturer offers financial assistance if your copay is really high. I only pay $50 for a 5 week supply.
I got them.. but the insurance I have paid completely. . I didn't have to copay and a nurse from alere
Sorry.. the nurse came to my house every week to give me the shot.. because of the cold weather, sometimes it hurt a little.. I live in Brooklyn. .
I had to take it as pill form 2x a day from the beginning till 34 weeks. I a now 35+3
Thank you everyone I am so encouraged by all the responses.
I get my last shot (36 weeks) on Monday! I started at 16 weeks. No biggie. Doesn't hurt, but I have an awesome nurse who does them. My insurance coved them 100%.
