Hi ladies

I'm from 18-24, but nobody can help me there. I had a breast reduction is 2011, just wondering if any of you have had one, or know somebody who has had one, and was able to breast feed? I've posted in the breast feeding community but it's pretty dead in there lol

I'm in NZ and have no way of contacting the surgeon who did it as it was through the public health system. I'm also not sure if we have lactation specialists here. I was told that I probably won't,  I went from a Gcup to a DD, so i halved in size. They had to cut around my nipples and move them so they were in proportion with my boob's, hence the damaged ducts. I have looked on google at others experience's and some have, but some haven't. So I'm hoping there is hope lol thanks for the help ladies :-)

My sister in law had a breast augmentation (kinda the other way there) and the surgeon was told that breastfeeding would be a priority to the surgery. She had two very healthy nursing babies years later. So just like hers it probably depends on what all was taken out. Im pretty sure they stay clear of the nursing ducts and just focus on the fat pockets. Maybe youd have better luck asking the doc office who did the surgery, just to be sure.

My friend had one n was not able to breast feed.   It all depends on what type of reduction u had.   Did they remove your lactation ducts?

I've never had one, but I think it depends on the type of incision they make. Your doctor (particularly the one who did the reduction) would be the best person to answer this. Your local lactition consultants might be able to help as well. My hospital has lactition consultants on staff; I would call and ask if yours does, and if you could talk to one before baby comes. That way you can have enough time to explore your options.

My cousin had one and still breast fed her baby. Although I'm not sure if it matters how much they reduced the breasts. She went down 2 bra sizes.
